At 6 years old, there aren't lots of "nice" gifts that a child will be able to easily destroy and/or lose.
I had the same instance at my wedding and I (as well as the parents) decided that it was best to get the two-4 year old twin boys some toys that would help to entertain them the day of the actual wedding.
There is lots of waiting around for pictures, announcements, food, etc. so I packed each of the boys a goodie bag filled with treats (things that DIDN'T stain) as well as some cars and dinosaurs. They are super into dinosaurs so that was a no brainer.
Boys are going to be the terrors behind the smallest overlooked areas and giving them something to distract them is never a bad idea.

I'm having a similar issue with our ring bearer and I like the idea of tickets to a local museum - we have a really nice Children's Museum in our area so that would be an easy solution. We also thought about getting him and his dad tickets to a sporting event....hope this helps a little.

Little girls like nice things, but little boys like things they can play with!!! He'll appreciate a toy truck or tractor than something nice.
We got our girls (including jr bridesmaid and flower girl) jewelry, but we're giving our ring bearer a hat that lights up. Check out this website; this is the store where we're getting the hat from!

I think a gold or silver bracelet would be nice for the ring bearer. Something more manly than pearls, like an ID bracelet. Or a monogrammed tie clip or money clip.

An idea is a silver plated piggybank with money (kids LOVE money!) or tickets to a theme park or something fun that he would enjoy (the circus, the zoo, etc).
go to:www.thingsremembered.com and type in BANK under the search. It will bring up some banks that you could use such as:
Silver Plated Baseball Bank (you can engrave his 1st name on it)
Silver Plated Train Bank (again, that can be personalized)
Just an idea ... I think it's what I am going to do for my nephew who will be my ring bearer :)

I would say keep it simple. Get him a gift card to Toys R Us...money...tickets to the local science museum, etc.
I know it doesn't seem as nice as the pearl charm bracelets, but I bet you he'll think it's great.

Look for a gift that can double as an activity for him to do during the reception. Chances are, being a little boy, he'll be bored to tears. Does he have a gameboy? Maybe a new game for that?

I got my 5 year old ring bearer a silver piggy bank with his name engraved on it ($15); my husband gave him a Superman poster. He loved both. Check out www.exclusivelyweddings.com for more ideas.
