Yesterday I started painting the adjecent rooms a rich taoupe(ie) rose. I dont know how to describe it but its a deep rich earthy color boardering on purple or rose-ish. Given this description can you picture it? In your imagination do those colors go together? The swatches looked good together...I love both of the colors but I am not sure how well they actullly blend.
Any suggestions? Does it sound like a brothel?
I have a lot of art, and plants that can bring it together but Ive never done anything quite this....colorful.....

It strikes me that you wouldn't ask the question if something about the color combo didn't seem off to you. If the thought of a brothel came to your mind, that probably tells you you aren't thrilled with the look.

People like different things. If you love how it looks and can decorate in a way that could surprise people when it comes to pulling it all together - that's all that matters. If you're looking at the two and thinking "brothel" then there's probably something about it that isn't sitting well with you.

In my imagination those two colors could conceivably complement each other. I don't know your decor, so obviously my suggestion may be all off for those rooms; but I would imagine if you could pull them together with something that would lighten the heaviness of both colors (like a lot of light cream accents with, maybe, hints of the other room's color on things near the doorway or else a combination of something like cream with plants and natural wood or wicker) that may tone down the differences.

I think when it comes to bold color on walls, walls of such colors cannot just be big expanses of those colors. Off-white walls and much wallpaper can get away with being left as stretches of big expanse in certain places, but boldly colored walls do seem to need to have the color broken up.

very colorful sounding-taupe color sounds too warm/earthy to go with bright/cool color; quite a project, i love changing themes; your accents can bring any of it together-look before nailing anything in place for different views---have fun
