I bought my bridesmaids tote bags for their gifts for standing up in my wedding. I want to fill them with some things. What should I put in them?

SMALL Individual bottles of champagne -- you can buy these at any wine store and are a single serving, perfect for toasting before/after the ceremony or on the way to the reception

Bottled water

Advil (they are bound to get a headache at some point during the day)

Tampons/Pads -- you never know what may happen (it happened at mine!)

Thank you card

Candy -- something sweet that won't stain the dress or teeth ... chocolate and anything red would be off limits in my book

Disposable camera -- ask them to take pictures of you/them getting ready and then give to you when you get back from the honeymoon for your memory book(s)

Pocket mirror -- you can get these at Target/drug store for about $1 ... eliminates the potential mess of compacts

Shout wipes -- will get out ANY stain without leaving a residue (make sure you have some of these on hand as well)

Lipstick -- only if you are requiring your girls to have the same color for the wedding

Hairspray -- can get at Target/drug store for around $1 (travel size)

Toothbrush/Toothpaste -- same as above to keep those smiles perfect all night long

Anything else that would be sentimental for the girls would be a great idea ... it sounds like you are really trying to make your girls feel special and just for your efforts, they are really going to appreciate it!

Congratulations!

I'm personalizing all of my gifts to each bridesmaid. I am trying to think of things that EACH girl would enjoy personally (as all of them are different).

So consider whether each girl would like the following and consider putting them in her bag. Each bag does not have to be the same. Make them unique to each girl:

- Bottle of Wine (if they are of age, of course)
- Champagne (again, if they are of age)
- Cocoa
- Teas
- Gourmet Coffee
- Chocolates
- Mini Perfume
- Willow Tree friendship Plaque by Demarco or some other "Friendship" type of gift
- Gift certificate to their favorite store and/or restaurant
- CZ bracelet to wear on the wedding day (not too expensive but pretty!)
- Candles
- Picture Frame (and give them a picture of you and her at the wedding when you get your pics back)
- Lotions and bath soaps if they use them
- A CD or DVD of their favorite artist or movie
- Magazine subscription (or just magazines if the budget is tight)
- A new book they may enjoy
- Travel Game
- Champagne or wine glasses
- Dish towels that are funny or cute or match their personality somehow

There are lots of things you could give that are personal to them. My motto? Make it useful! People love to get gifts that

A) They won't buy themselves
and/or
B) They will use

Giving someone something that is not practical or useful or wanted can end up being a waste of your money.

Good luck!

If this is the only gift you will be giving them do not aim it towards the wedding day (i.e. advil, etc.). This is supposed to be something for them, not something that indirectly serves you. Bath products, lotions etc. are a nice ideas or you could opt for one larger item and a couple little fillers. You know them best! I had several bridesmaids that would have thrown the lotion-type items away so I opted for silver clocks with picture frames (www.exclusivelyweddings.com) with a promise to fill the frame with their favorite wedding picture. Just make sure to include a note thanking them.

Lotions, bath stuff, home manicure/pedicure supplies, nail polish, body sprays, maybe little bags for makeup, makeup for your wedding in colors that match and will look okay on them (think neutral colors), stuff for at-home facials and footcare.

Think about the fact that some girls are highly allergic to smells, scents, and some ingredients in cosmetic stuff. Burt's Bees stuff is GREAT because it's all natural, and even your highly allergic girls are less likely to break out and suffer irritation from it.

You could buy them jewelry and hair berets you want the to wear in the wedding, you could put bath and body works, small t-lite candles, there are things that all women love, and those are a few of them. You could also make something significant to your wedding to give to them. For my wedding, we made up baskets with bath and body works lotion, soap, and body spray. I also put a candle in it with a bag of hershy's kisses.

Those cute lil slippers, like ballerina slippers, or just cute house slippers would be great. They're perfect for wearing while getting ready in the back before the wedding.

That only works if you're giving them prior though.

That's so funny, that's what I'm going to do with my girls. I was planning on going to Victoria's Secret and getting a bunch of their little nick nacks that they have up towards the counter, like lip gloss, hair ties, nail polish, vicki mints, etc.

Good luck, and congratulations!!

Go to Bath and Body Works, get some lotions and soaps, then go to someplace like Bed Bath and Beyond and get heated neck wraps. You can also make bath salts and body wash, you could also get nail polish and those toe things so they can do their toe nails too.

Flip flops, hand lotion, chap stick, bobby pins, nail polish remover, clear nail polish, safety pins. Or really nice shampoo, conditioner and hairspray for the special day.
