Well most of the population have herpes of one form or another - however only about 10% of the population will ever show symptoms - cold sores on the mouth or genitals - occasionally the eyes - or shingles an unpleaseant illness.
Herpes doesn't kill you any more than verucas and planter warts do. Its not pleasent though but its not the end of the world and they are working towards more effective treatments.
So whilst its not the nicest thing to receive from someone you've slept with, there are practical effective ways to deal with the consequences.
Condoms do not prevent herpes transmission every time as many people can pass on the disease without showing visible symptoms of knowing they carry the virus. At least in the UK people are not blood tested for herpes.

Tough Choice as an adoptive Mom I am very glad my children's Birth Mom's choose to have them. I think at this point in my life if I couldn't parent the child I would be strong enough to go the pregnancy and lovingly choose adoption. But when I was young I probably would have choosen Abortion. I can't do the time or decide what is best for any other women. We all have to weigh our own options and make our own decision... In the end with adoption atleast you are giving the baby a fighting chance at a happy life.

Well, I'd imagine if you did visit a pro or two, you might get the herpes. You really should see a doctor about that. And wash your hands--and DO NOT touch your eyes, you'll go blind!

There are no PROS. Herpes is an aweful thing to have, PERIOD. The downside is spots flaring up that cause itching, scaling, and turning into painful sores. It's very communicable. Your pecker may fall off, etc.

There are NO pros.
Cons:
1You can pass it on to other people.
2It makes you more likely to get HIV because you have open sores and that makes it easier for the virus to get into your blood
3If you're a woman or you give it to a woman there can be birth complications.
