I hav edone this. Copy the picture and paste it over itself. ( I am assuming this is a b&w original) then go to the lower layer and do a "change color" function on that layer to change the color of the entire pic to the desired color. Then erase away (carefully) the top layer and the next layer back will show through in the color you made it. Sounds confusing, but it is simple.

hopefully this will make sense-

Open your photo---file---> open--->

Then Duplicate your photo ---->on the top menu click Layer--->duplicate layer

on your layers palette you will now see two copies of your picture
make sure the eye icon is on for both copies. This way if you make a mistake on the painting layer, you can erase your error without damaging the your work. The layer you will be working on is the top layer. So when you begin to paint make sure the top layer is highlighted, not the bottom one. The bottom layer should be called background by photoshop default-

next make sue your photo has the RBG option on
from the top layer menu choose image--->mode--->RBG or---> CMYK

Use the CMYK if you plan on printing your photo-
The options checked should not be index color or greyscale.

Go back on you layers menu and make sure the top copy of your picture highlited which means it is the active layer you will be working on.

On your tool bar click on the paint brush and find your desired brush tip.

Then after you have selected your brush tip and size go to the top menu and change the mode from normal to color

Now you will be able to color your photos. You do not have to change the opacity or flow levels of your paint bush-
leave them at 100%

When your done with your work and you will not be coloring or editing any further go to the top menu
select layer--->flatten image
Then press ctrl-s to save your image

if you wish to save it and you have more work to do on it later
do not flatten the image instead just click ctrl-S on your keyboard and save it as a PSD document which stands for PHOTO SHOP DOCUMENT. This keeps the image the way you closed it with all the layers available for future work.

If you flatten it you won't be able to continue where you left off.

Also give your photo a different name than your original or else your colorized photo will take the place of the original black and white photo. This way you can still keep the black and white photo and also have a colored one.

ok this is quite difficult to explain.

Go to your tool bars on your left and click on the lasso.

Out line the item you want to change ... Close it off. The copy and paste it. Just press Ctrl+c and automatically press Ctrl + v.

ON your left you will see the picture in your actions box. Where the eye is click it to take out the main picture. Then click on the box with the picture you copied. Make sure the eye is on.
You then go to
>Image
>adjustments
>>Hue/saturations

youc an change the color to your choice there or just leave it.

then you want to go back to your main picture make sure the eye is on and make sure it is highlighted, and make sure the picture you copied has its eye off.

Then go to
>>Image
>>>Adjustments
>>>>Desaturate.

that should give you the idea and then you can figure it out. Hope i helped sorry its complicated.

Hi, you can use Google picasa to help your photo management.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:
