He can't give up parental rights unless you would have another man willing to adopt the kid and assume financial responsibility. So, in short, yes, he would have to pay child support.

My father gave up his parental rights to me... and my mother wasn't able to get any sort of financial support from him as a result. Now, that was a long time ago, and things may have changed since then. But, it would seem to me, logically, that if a parent gives up their right to be a parent in the first place, then they probably weren't planning on having anything to do with their child financially, either.

If he gives his rights up he has know rights to the child and therefore the child has no rights to aid from the father as in the eyes of the law he is not a "father". Any person that gives up their parental rights are ............. but that is another subject all together.

It depends on the State but I dont think you can I think later when the child turns 18 you can sue for back child support depending on where you live all they really want to know is if your the father or not if so pay but I would talk with a lawyer before you go through with that

I don't know about other states but, in Illinois the parent is still liable for child support even if they give up their rights. Now if you are to re-marry and your new husband would like to adopt then, the biological father no longer has to pay child support.

My mother and I have been through this with my sister and her ex.. No.. if he gives up his parental rights, then you wont be able to recieve child support.. The only way you could ask for it was if he still got to visit the child or something..

No. When a parent signs away their rights, they are saying they are no longer a parent. He doesn't have to pay support but he will have NO parental rights at all. So if later on he wants to see the child, he wont be able to. Not without your permission.

I am sure the laws vary from state to state. I live in PA and I could not receive child support after my daughter's father gave up his rights. Giving up rights means you no longer have any responsiblity, financial or otherwise, to that child.

I would actually be so glad for my baby's father to give up his rights, that I would be willing to go without child support! I've heard both answers to this, so I really am not sure. You would need to talk to someone about your specific situation, because everyone's is different.

Ideally the answer should be yes. If he is willing to pay child support then you will receive it. However, if he decides to ignore requests for him to pay child support then you may have a long wait... if ever to receive any payments. If he is on any state benefits it will automatically be deducted from his benefit. Good Luck!
