You'll be yelled at A LOT. There is a lot of physical training involved in any basic training, with deadlines and goals to be met by a certain time frame. Lots of drill (marching in step), and learning how to follow orders instantaneously (no questioning of orders). You will have to keep your room sp:c and span clean, along with all your clothes. Your room will get torn apart if not. And seeing as the rooms are inspected EVERY MORNING this is a full time job.
You will also have regular classes in warfare knowledge, including what to do if you are attacked with nerve gases or any other weapons of mass destruction. The different ranks, and how to identify them, and how to react to each (salute or not, what to do re hats, etal).
You will learn how to shoot, and how to care for your rifle. As well as being given basic knowledge and use of all other anti-personnel regularly used by your company. You will also be given training in hand to hand combat, and obstacle courses.

I went to BMT in 2001 and though it wasnt to tough back then it has gotten alot tougher. You will want to make sure you are prepared physically before anything so I hope you are ready to go in that aspect. As far as the mental part. AF BMT is a mental game. This is the reason they want you to be able to fold t-shirts in 6 inch squares. Dont go in there thinking it is just an easy stepping stone that you have to get over. You will constantly be learning and studying. I dont know what week it is now days but you will have a week out in the field where you will learn combat tactics. I have a friend that works out there and from the sounds of it the week has gotten a lot tougher then what it was in the past.
Well good luck.

It shouldn't be bad at all. More mental than physical - just pay attention and do what you're told. Check out the forums at www.military.com They have an AF section there Also the AF website is full of info. The weather should be in your favor this time of year.

I went through basic training in the late 70's, tough! When I became a supervisor seeing a different force come in to the USAF, I was......flabbergasted!!! A sniffle for the newly enlisted is a week for their piers to carry them. Your worried about a test, worry about your life, and the ones you have pledged to protect, the COUNTRY you have pledged to protect!! Are you the one that is going to make a difference in the American people or are you the one that is going to cry because you can not fine a pencil sharpener? BE THE ONE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!

when i was in air force basic training many years ago, it was embarrasingly easy. i was ashamed to tell anyone how easy it was. some marching and calesthentics, but mostly classroom work. you got chewed out once in a while, but it was not hard at all.
