I'm native american and im really really tan..[ not the fake orange tan]... and alot of ppl say that they think i wont look good with light hair.. but i really want highlights! should i do it?

Why do all young girls want to look the same? Instead, celebrate your differences! Take to wearing a beaded choker or something that will advertise your nativeness. Your people have already been ground under the white man's heel for centuries. Why would you want to exacerbate this by looking like their insipid daughters?

They will very obviously be highlights and won't look like a natural lightening from the sun. If that's OK with you, then you should do it. Nobody here knows you, and it seems the people who do don't think it's a good idea--but, if you want to try it, I think you should. If it's really horrible, you can have them dyed darker and then just don't do it again.

If you want highlights, why not consider another color? Try maybe a caramel, light brown, or auburn red. I would definitely go to the hair stylist and ask her for suggestions as she knows hair the best.

hi, i am hungarian so i have dark skin and very dark brown, almost black eyes and i have found that people think i look more attractive when i have lighter colored hair. my hair is naturally dark brown/black and it looks really good with highlights (currently have some). you should definitely try it out...you will love it! go to a professional though when you are going to dye your hair because they will help you pick out the best color highlights for your hair so it will look natural.

I have dark skin and naturally my hair is really dark brown. My hairstylist suggested using hightlights that aren't a harsh blonde so you don't look like you have stripes in your hair. Go for a honey blonde or a really light caramel brown for a more natural look.

Very, very lightly and very very carefully. You must have beautiful hair already, don't ruin it! I'm Irish Native American, but red hair and green eyes withh slightly tan skin. But full thick hair...don't change your naural beauty! NA's are becoming rare!

Absolutely. Native women are the best. With your look, this hair will be fun and dramatic. Just don't over do it so you look cheap, and, get it done right, it is worth the inverstment.

I believe that you should try whatever you actually like...dont do it if you are going to regret it, but want to get people's attention!

I'd say do whatever you like, it's your hair. If you end up not liking it, you can always get it toned down. Hair grows out so it won't last forever.
