First of all, since your cat has had an accident in a spot, you must get a cleaner that gets rid of pet urine smells, and is a pet safe product. They have a much more acute sense of smell, so things that may smell clean to us, still smell like urine to cats. I use "Bio-Deodorizer Spray" that i order from Healthypetnet.com on any kitty accidents. It works quickly and can't poison any animals since its all natural. I've had cats for all my life and i find this to work the best since you can use it on any surface, even carpet and it removes any trace of kitty accidents. I even use it on the litter box when I'm switching my litter. You may want to try that too, since your litter box may look and smell clean to you, but your kitty know better.
Is your cat spayed? If not she is probably marking her territory, have her fixed immediately.
If she is already spayed, she may have a urinary tract infection. take her to a vet immediately to check her out. She could be associating the pain with the litter box, and could be under a lot of stress from this.
Is your litter box hooded? Most cats can't stand hoods because they cause smells to be trapped and will ward off most Kitty's.
If that doesn't work, maybe your cat doesn't like the type of litter you are using. If you think that may be a problem, right once I brought my 2 shelter kittens home i started them off on feline pine. It doesn't have silica to clog up their lungs, doesn't really track if you switch your litter every when most of it is saw dust, and isn't filled with all those perfumes and chemicals. Cats don't really like strong scents, and might be causing your kitty to get desperate . E-mail me if you have any questions...i will be happy to assist you in your quandry.

There are a few things you can do. #1 take her to the vet to rule out a UTI. #2 Switch her litter to cat attract litter. There's something about the scent and feel of the litter that's supposed to make them really want to use it. It worked for one of my cats who had NEVER used the box at all. She was abused before we got her and she would freak out when we put her in the box, and now she's using the box. #3 Anywhere she pees, clean it up right away, and then put some vinegar on the spot with a sponge and allow it to dry. The vinegar neutralizes the odor to the cat to discourage going. Also lemon scented air freshener or cleaners are supposed to make them not want to go there. After neutralizing the odor to her nose you can move her box to the place she's going and after she has success for a few days start to slowly move it to the desired spot. All this information is available in a packet that comes with the cat litter.

First see a vet to make sure there isn't a problem, if there isn't one then it is the litter or box you have. You need to get a new one altogether or wash out the one you have real well soap, hot water maybe even bleach. Then use fresh litter, and this will help. If you don't use a clumping kind of litter try it to help with the pee smell so you won't have to wash the box every week.

Since this is new, have her checked by a vet for a urinary tract infection or other problem.
If she is healthy, try a second litter box. Many cats like to urinate and defecate in different places. A different litter might do the trick, too.

if she is only doing it in those two places it could be the type of cleaner that your using. don't use anything with ammonia, that attracts them to pee on it more. there could be something wrong with the litter. most cats are very clean animals and do not like going to the bathroom any where that they may step in it... you may also want to take her to the vet to have her checked out. she could have a UTI or something could be wrong with her kidneys. good luck.

I would think it's a health problem. Get her to the vet as soon as possible, before worse problems develop from something going untreated. I doubt it's a behavioral problem since she is does sometimes use the litter box.

Try taking her to the vet to see if she is not well. And also she might not like the kind of kitty litter brand shes using, so trying changing that as wel, and maybe even food. Good luck!

She's not a bad kitty.....she's just trying to tell you something. She could have a medical problem like a Urinary Track Infection which, if not treated, can be fatal. Take her to the vet first. If nothing is wrong, then it could be behavioral.

Put litter boxes in the kitchen and bathroom where she pees for a while. Worked for our cat.
