It's a trick cats play on humans. When you're not looking, they confer with each other to confuse you later on! Next thing they'll do is undergo phase changes at will! They'll be a solid one minute and then, when you think you've locked them in the basement, will turn into a gas and seep underneath the door only to magically appear behind you and startle the tar out of you! Afterwards, they will demonstrate their amazing ability to be in two rooms at the same time!
Seriously, cats are as adept at training their humans as humans are in training their cats.
It's nice to know somebody has a half-way intelligent cat. Ours used to eat silicone caulking and she becomes viciously possessive with any flies she catches, as if she's warning everybody not to try and take her flies from her!

Cat C, he's the cat that cat A is meowing at and cat B is communicating telepathically to, however cat C is so advanced that cat C's visible presence has moved into another dimension, preventing you from seeing it.
Haven't you ever wondered who ate ALL the cat food?

Can't tell till you try to actually train them tricks, my cats are great competitors with each other. I have had doodles(6 mo old) and Gabbie(3 mo old) for a month and a half, and already they know to sit, beg, lay down, roll over, and wave on command. They even taught me that when they put their lil'paws on my knee, that means they want lap time and a good kitty massage...lol!
Unfortunately, you have unknowingly trained your cat A to meow, since you give him what he wants when he does. Try training him to use bells, it is much more fun, and it sounds more pleasant. Cats love to learn new ways to communicate with you. Plus, the quieter cat will probably be even more effective at getting instant messages to you. Try getting different pitched bells hung in designated areas for example-
Bell A by food and water bowl-when you refill them in the morning, ring the bell once. They will start to associate that bell with food and water.
Bell B by the toy basket-when you want to get a toy out to have interactive play, ring it and start play; so on so forth.
This can be very addictive for humans since it makes life so much more interesting, and your cats will love the extra stimulation of having a special way to communicate with you.
e-mail me if you would like tips etc.

I would say "B" cat. I had a cat that hardly ever meowed, but I always knew what she wanted. She did not stare at me to get things, but she showed me what she wanted. She was brilliant.
My other cat is like your "A" cat. He meows for everything and he gets everything, but he is not as smart as my other cat was.
Take care,
Troy

I would say they're just about the same. They're both communicating in some form to get their point across. They're accomplishing the same thing, so what difference does it make?

Cat "B" is smarter. It doesn't waste energy by meowing.

"A" cat is more advanced, because it knows that meoving gets your attention faster than ESP alone.
