-Tell him/her different animals to act out.
-Build blocks with him/her.
-Color a picture together.
-Make cookies (low sugar, lol) and have him help.

puzzles, coloring, anything that engages his mind. And a craft project that he is interested in is a good start. Try having him tell you a story. That way he will be tired out and you will get entertained with both parties happy.

Make some cookie dough and let the five-year-old mold it into different shapes and put sprinkles on top.

Sit on your backside and throw the ball or frisbee and say, "Find the ball and bring it back"
If you play for x amount of time, I'll fix you some ice cream etc.
