I have recently discovered grey hair on my 11-year-old daughter’s head; she was on Ritalin from the age of 5. I want to know if it is related to Ritalin and if it could be stress related and whom can I contact in the medical practice for advice?

not necessarily......I've been gray since middle school and it has to do with genetics......you might want to bring this up with your doctor on your next appointment

Wow, I've never heard of that but then I know some people who started to go grey at 17 and 18. If you think Ritalin may be the cause, take her to an endocrinologist just to make sure. In the meantime you can use a gentle hair color on her so she won't get all self conscious about it.

I would say the appropriate age to dye hair if it's really bad like that is 11. Dye her hair her natural color. I would assume that it's because maybe your family has genetics of getting gray hair early and the melanin in her hair follicle died and the age happened to be 11. Some people could be born with gray hair!

My mom has had a gray chunk in her hair since she was about twelve years old, its a birthmark, won't take hair color. Talk to her doctor, but that is one thing that it could be.

I personally has few gray hairs at that age, and now in my 80's my hair is only tinged with gray. I doubt it is of any concern.

If sounds like it's in her genes. Someone of either side of her family had this and now she has it. I started getting gray when I was 16. I have to color my hair or I look like Cruella DeVille. LOL

Some people get gray hair at unusually early ages.
\My uncle was solid gray as a teenager.

Genetics.
Don't color it. It's nothing to be ashamed of. And once she hits high school people will think it's cool. Because it is.
