He wants you to have a relationship with him as your Father and Savior and Guide. He wants you to pray, humble yourself, seek him with your heart open and listen. He will tell you how to travel down your path and what he has from you.
How can I hear God?
John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
How do I know if he is talking to me?
John 10:4-5
When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
God wants your fellowship.

If that is what the Holy Spirit leads you to do...yes.
God does not ask everyone to give up everything and become a monk. He asks you to love and trust Him with everything. After all they are not really your possessions, you are just borrowing them.
Trust God and love Him.
Love one another.

Have you been called to that life?
Everyone on this planet has gifts given to them by God. They are all different gifts. You must discern yours.
I saw a wonderful presentation this weekend by a fellow named Francis Chun. He talked about using our gifts for the Glory of God. He used the example of a cheese grater and an apple corer. He used them like puppets. It was great. Probably better in person than in writing.
The apple corer said: "I can't grate cheese like you can."
And the cheese grater said: "SO???!!! You've got your own ability. Use it!"
Look at your life very closely. See where your strengths are. Where are you most gifted? Teaching? Music? Prayer? Science? Medicine?
I am a naturally contemplative person. So I actually thought my life was to be lived in a cloister. But during discernment God said the cloister was not for me. He needs me IN the world, helping others. Not out of it in the cloister.

God wants you to love and be good to everyone, even your enemies (this is the hardest part). He wants your heart to be faithful to Him - that's all. God is not as complicated as everyone believes He is. God works in mysterious ways, I know, but what's wonderful about Him is that He loves you just the way you are. You don't have to be a saint to go to heaven, what you do is important, but He sees your heart.

What if you heard a voice, not male, not female, but you knew it was God, and the voice said sell all of your possessions and donte the profit to charity. Wouldn't you do that? What if you heard a voice, and again, it wasn't male nor female, but you knew it was God, and the voice said; move to a mountain top and mediated; wouldn't you do that? Ok, what if you heard a voice, it wasn't male nor female, but you knew it was God; and the voice said; All I want you to do is be happy, would you do that?

The simple gospel is aknowlegeing that you are a sinner and that Christ was God in the flesh who came to the world to be tempted and overcome sin and to die to pay the penalty of sin for all who accept his atonement. It is free of charge and available to all because God loved us inspite of our sin he paid the price for us.

God wants you first, to follow Him. Then when you form a relationship with him through fasting, praying, and reading His word, He will reveal all those things to you.

Really all he wants from anyone is that they show tolerance and respect for others-it sounds simple but very few of us practice it all the time.

Are you so attached to your possesions that you would rather have them, than the peace of God.
What God wants from you, is your acceptence of his son, his sacrifice, and your love.
He wants to be fufilled in you so you can be fufilled in him.

God wants you to decide if you love him or not. If you do, then live a righteous life to be pleasing to him.
