Talk. Speak honestly, for He knows it already. When asking for something, use bible verses in your prayers. Reminding God if His Word shows a level of fellowship that God loves and honors.
Example:
Father, I pray and petition you right now concerning my mother's health. Your word says to honor my father and mother and I now seek you on her behalf. You say in 3rd John 2 that you would have use prosper in all things and be in health even as our souls prosper, so I pray that my mother would be in health, perfect divine health according to the promises in your word. Thank you, Father, that by Your Son's stripes, she is already healed and I am waiting with expectancy for the manifestation in the natural. I thank you Lord, in Jesus' name, Amen.
That prayer will work by faith.
God Bless

I talk to God wherever I am and whenever I need someone to listen to me. You don't need to pray out loud, God knows your thoughts and He will answer you with what He knows is the best for you. You don't have to be in a church or even alone, I have had a talk with the Lord at work and got my answers. I didn't pray out loud, it was just what was in my heart and I got my answer the same day.
Pray to God like you was talking to a friend or family member, but remember, you don't have to pray out loud.
God bless you and may He give you the answers that you need, sincerely, Juanita

without ceasing. :) (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
I suppose since we are to never stop praying then this means that we can pray while doing anything and everything. There are times when God gives us an opportunity to pause and kneel, lay flat on the floor, bow our heads and close our eyes... Though we wouldn't want to do any of those things while driving, right? So, to pray without ceasing is to converse with God always, no matter what our situation or our surroundings. There is praying aloud and there is the silent prayer. God just wants us to talk to him, so he can talk back.

A lot of the answers you already have are quite good. I would like to add, that we should be respectful when we talk to God. We should tell Him all the concerns we feel, and should be interested in his concerns too. (After all isn't that how it is with friends?) We should ask for His guidance and be willing to accept it. We should be thankful when we perceive we have received an answer. We can pray any time any where. It doesn't have to be out loud. For references from the Bible on this subject please see: 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Philippians 4: 6,7

The best way for me might not be the best way for you. It depends on who you are and which way you are most comfortable with. Personally, I like to talk to God as if I was talking to a friend. I understand the get down on your knees and pray mindset and there are many times when I do. But that's more ritual to me. I prefer just to speak to God when there is something on my mind something that I need to say, whether I be sitting or standing, walking down the street or laying in bed. That's what works for me.

Pray to the Lord in the way you feel the most closest with him.
Us Muslims pray with our bodies, minds and spirits. When we pray we use our entire body, in all its many postures. Standing, bowing, prostrating and sitting. With all our minds and spirit.
Connection with the Holy One has to be from the deepest part of you which is the spiritual dimension as well as the outer most of your self, which is this body.
We we go in Sajda or Prostration we put our head on the ground in submission and obedience to the Mighty One. After that, you do not feel like submitting or bowing to anyone else and then you have no fear. Giving yourself up to the God makes you not for sale for anyone else.
I hope this makes sense.

To the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the best way to pray is with a humble, honest, and sincere heart.

With a humble and contrite heart. Praying with the respect that is due Him as well as with affection and expectation. I always pray in the name of Jesus for he said that "no man goes to the father but by me".

From the heart, that's what God deals with and knows very well.....And if you pray outloud it is awesome, to hear yourself ask for things from GOD......try it, you'll like it.

"If My servants ask you about Me, tell them I am near, ready to answer those who call upon Me?"
(Quran Chapter 2: 186)
This verse was revealed in an answer to a question put to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): 'Tell us about our Lord - is He near that we can whisper to Him, or is He far that we ought to raise our voices?'
The verse teaches us that Allah is near and close to each person. There is no need to raise one's voice while calling upon the Lord. By implication it rules out the need for any intercessor or intermediary. Because Allah is near, each one can speak to Him directly.
Islam teaches us that although Prophet Muhammad is the last Prophet and Messenger, he is not considered an intermediary between man and Allah.
Hope this is informative.
