My friend told me that after you wash your hair, the less you comb it the more fuller and cleaner it stays and feels. Is this true or crock? Thanks!

Its crock.
If you dont comb it, you will have tangled hair. Everyday pollutions make your hair dirty from the moment you walk out the front door. Nothing makes it "cleaner" after you wash it.

As someone that does hair, it has some truth to it,but not fully. When you comb your hair you work up the oilglands in your hair shaft, so you could say that if you comb your hair alot that you would be distributing the oils through you hair. Most likely closer to your scalp. As far as fuller goes your hair is only so full depending on alot of this you do to your hair is what is going to make it appear diffirently. What is the general purpose of this question? Are you looking for a particular answer to a hair problem or just curious?

I believe it is a crock. I have been told by numerous hair stylists the more you wash yur hair the more you are stripping it from its natural oils. Although the more you comb your hair the more build up you are combing out, allowing the folicles to breath and your hair to grow. I also know that the more you massage your scalp the faster and fuller your hair will grow as well.

I've never heard about that. I think you should gently comb (with a wide tooth comb) out your tangles after you wash it. Your hair does shed daily so by combing it, you'll end up with a lot of strands coming out, but that's normal.

As for your hair staying cleaner, try not to use styling products. I don't think combing or brushing has anything to do with your hair getting dirty unless your brush or comb is dirty. If that's the case, wash your brush and comb in shampoo and warm water.

I disagree with your friend. The more you comb and brush your hair, your scalp is stimulated and that makes your hair grow longer and fuller. If you avoid combing it, it may seem fuller with all of those dead strands of hair intertwined with the living ones. As far as being cleaner, use clean combs and brushes. You can't make your hair dirty with clean supplies. Your friend sounds like he/she either has very thin hair and needs to use products to give volume or he/she just needed an excuse for not combing their hair.

The fullness aspect may be true for your friend's hair, but not everyones. How does not combing it keep it cleaner?

I know that brushing your hair when wet can lead to breakage, but I'm not sure about how clean it stays either way! I would guess that the less you touch it when wet, the more volume you give it, but sometimes you need to comb your hair to give yourself a parting, or to style it.

Its true to th point that the comb knocks the "fresh" molucules off your head; but to a noticable extent I dont think so.
