I have a 6 year old boy who is seriously the best mannored kid on the planet. my 2 1/2 daughter is a bit of a heathen and my 18 month old is a passive angle.

I'm paying my sister (she's 24) 10 an hour for 5 hours a week while I go out on a date with my wife. Is this a good rate? should I pay a little more? she's happy with the money, its an extra 200 a month, but I want to pay her what she's worth. is this a fair price?

I would think that's more than enough. She's your sister. These are her relatives. My sisters "babysit" for free as do my parents. My actual babysitters get $5 an hour for 2 kids (their asking price). If you want to know what the going rate is in your area, contact a nanny agency or babysitting service. For $10 an hour, I'd bet just about anyone would be willing to babysit for you.

I think that is a pretty fair price. I charge on the low end $7/hour for 2 kids, but $14 for 4 kids (2 families at the same time). But always go with your gut, if you feel she is worth more pay a little more, or if she works a longer time for one sitting pay more.

Depending on her qualifications, she's worth between 7-15 dollars. She's happy with the pay so don't make waves! 10 dollars is fine for the work she has to do. Don't feel bad because she is a family member. Treat this as purely business.

It depends, if you feel she's doing a job worth more than what you're giving her than it's not enough. So judging by the fact that you felt you had to ask this question I'd suggest you drop another dollar or two to help clear your conscience.

10 an hour seems really fair. If she isn't complaining than she must be happy with that.
