Why would it??

I've been wearing the headscarf for 6 years now, and it's never prevented me from contributing to sociaty. I've always been getting top grades, I'm quite sociable and I've never felt that I'm missing on anything.

It was my choice to wear the headscarf even though I got comments from family members who thought I was too young to wear it. And it was my choice to wear the face veil two monthes ago (nobody in the family is supporting me on this but they let me do as I wish). I'm currently in university studying Chinese and I plan on becoming a translator and actually work not just get a degree and stay home like a lot of women do here.

I know of women working outside the house wearing either veil or even face veil. So, even the face veil doesn't prevent us from working. It just depends on how open-minded the company is.

For me, I feel more comfortable with the veil because it helps people know me for who I am not what I look like.

I'm living in a Muslim country but not all people accept the face veil and I feel that I should try to show them that we're no less than other women who choose not to wear it. I probably have to work harder to prove myself but I think it's worth it.

It's my choice and I love it.

Nope it doest!!! they can contribute to the society even with veil. but only problem which they face is Anti-veil propaganda. whts the problem if a muslim lady is practising her religion? why other peoples bother about......they can work properly, they can use their brain n prove themselves to be a good citizen, their veil dosnt stop them from working n conributing provided if they r supported by the society wher they r living. which is very uncommon..they r started with criticism n life is made tough for them. like now a days foreign minister of british has passed some comments abt veil.,on the other hand they r claiming that they have given all religious rights to every religion. peoples should change their mind. n let muslims ladies work in peacful envirment... they can prove themselves the best in their offices or wherever they work if they r not teased or criticised. they r let in peace..but ALAS !!!

if you mean the face full cover, then yes it does, because even in Muslim places as Dubai and other places no woman is allowed to work with her face is covered, and of course she can not do public services, no one will trust some coverd up figure who might be a man or a woman..but if u r talking about the hear cover only, then now, I've never noticed it as obstacle for them. I am a christian and living in muslim world, and I have so many muslim female friends who wear hear cover veil.

I wish I was Muslim so I could wear a veil and be treated with proper respect by anonymous men in public.
Men have no justification for the disrespectful way they gawk at women in public; who are minding their own business and have no interest in being harassed. Men have no justification for howling and whistling and gesturing and approaching women only to insult them. The veil puts men in their place.

The only way a veil can interfere with a woman's contribution is to be exculded because of discrimination.

Are you talking about covering the hair or the face?
Islam orders women to cover their hair so that they will be able to work side by side with men, it does not prevent women from doing anything, they study, they work and they lead a normal life, it is a very decent and respectable thing, and Muslim women who cover their hair are treated very well in Muslim countries.
But covering the face is not obligatory for Muslim women.

No, but covering the face can close certain career choices to them, for example modeling cosmetics, or starring in commercials for dental products.

I'm a Civil Engineer, and I wear hijab.

if she is paying taxes, and respect the law of the country then she is part of the society. the only way you will accept her into the society that if she starts wearing swimming suits and hot sexy bikini. covering the hair is the one that is required, not the face.
