I don't want to be asking too much or too little of my children.

im the oldest of 7 kids and all of us did chores everyday before we were allowed to have our time to ourselves.

Before i moved out of my dad's house i was still doing chores at the age of 20. Here's some of the things we did:

Me (20 y/o): dishes, clean the bathrooms, laundry, sweep and dust

Brother (14): dishes, bathrooms, garbage, sweep, cleaning up the table and counters before and after dinner

Sister (13): same as older brother

Brother (12): same as older sister

brother (10): same as older brother

sister (9): same as the older brother

brother (6): just cleaning up his mess and his bedroom.

...of course we're older now. im going to be 22... and well my brothers and sisters are older too and know what is ecpected everyday. i hear from one of my sisters that the youngest brother still doesnt do any chores because he is still being babied... but by now i'd think that he could at least wipe up the table now and then, sweep and basic cleaning around the living room.

i have a 6 yr old step son and he loves to clean as long as i have him do something that is appropiate for his age. he likes rinsing off the dishes after i scrub them. of course i do the knives and anything sharp first. he cleans up his own messes, he like to take the lint out from the dryer and likes to organize his room or help me clean the bathrooms.

good luck!
