2 Corinthians 11:14 - Satan keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. True Christians would follow Jesus' footsteps - did he celebrate halloween? christmas? etc. The point is the times we live in everybody only thinks about "me, myself, and I" "what can I get out of it?" They think that true Christians therefor can't have fun. Is that true? How much fun is it for these people to go to "Jesus' birthday party" and not even get him a gift? They buy gifts for family that they only see once a year - if that and then spend the next year in debt paying off the credit cards. Most, if not all holidays have some pagan background. If something is not Godly, then what does that make it? People need to see that there's no fence to sit on here. If you're not celebrating God then you're doing the opposite - celebrating the devil. There's nothing Christ-like about Christmas - so if you can't use the excuse that you're celebrating Jesus, then who are you celebrating?

Right now-worldwide- holidays are just a way to make money. I live in a culture where most people don't know what Halloween is or means but yet some of th upperclass people celebrate it.
Christmas...to make money as Christ is no longer the reason for the season or even in most person's thoughts.
Halloween...celebrates the dead. Why would i want to celebrate death when there is so much life and lives to give thanx for?
I am a christian and i celebrate by spending time it with my friends and family but then my culture is differnt.

I think people, Christian or not, should celebrate special days when they think it's right for them. Adapt it to your own beliefs. Obviously you're not going to get your employer to go along with you taking Christmas Day off in March (unless you use a sick day), but you can still celebrate your own rituals or festivals on those days.

In my state there are a lot of Native Americans. Some of the pueblos have renamed Columbus Day as "Native American Spirit Day" instead. They adapted it to what they felt was important.

My sisters and I have agreed not to obligate each other to buy birthday gifts. We agree that when we feel like sending a card or gift, we do, whatever day of the year it is. They are much more special that way.

If you are coerced into observing a holiday, you wouldn't be observing it for the right reasons. I suggest making a list of the "holidays" you would celebrate if you were in charge -- your personal list of holidays, and how you would like to celebrate them.

Christmas is not Saturnalia. They were celebrated on different days. You are thinking of the day dedicated to Sol Invictus, which was invented by the Romans *after* Christmas was an established holiday among Roman Christians. There is absolutely no connection between Easter and any pagan holiday. Check your sources. And whoever gave Nightwind a thumbs-down is an idiot. She is absolutely correct in her answer.

The timing of a holiday is not as important as the manner in which it is celebrated. And Thanksgiving is a great day to remember the ways in which God has provided for you, or has taught you valuable lessons.

Christians should celebrate some holidays, like Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc. but certainly not Halloween or any other holiday dedicated to evil....

why should a Christian not celebrate a holiday?....we live in America and we can celebrate Columbus day...that makes no sense...and also thanksgiving is a day that we give thanks to God for all He has provided for us and our families...I'm from Native American decent and I don't think about what you speak of ...I live in a place of forgiveness for all that....you should too.....Halloween we don't celebrate.....and Christmas whether or not it is in December or September or when ever means nothing because we don't know the true date of his birth ...so we celebrate it then....Easter is for us and you must remember that when we are celebrating holidays they may be on the same day but I can assure you they have a different meaning to us......

People like you suck all the fun and family time out of holidays because religion is too important in your life.

I'm atheist and I celebrate al these holidays because of traditions and a time for gifts, fun and family reunions.

Let loose and just have fun sometimes. You only live once.

We live in a Christian society if it wasn't for that we would have no holidays...We don't celebrate wear a bomb day or get fat and sit all day day. We celebrate the birth and death of our Lord and Savior.
