The infamous "condom talk" that couples should have after six months or so.

Contraceptives, for use for VD protection, are usually a sign of distrust in the relationship. Lack of trust in a relationship is a sure fire sign the couple is going NOWHERE! However…

Contraception for use in preventing pregnancy may be attributed more to whether a woman can handle the pill, or alternative contraception. There is hope, however, since clinical trials for the male BCP will be available starting in 2007.

I would be hardpressed to give a precise answer now without knowing the couples involved, but i would say if the issue is infidelity, the relationship should end quick! However, if the issue is pregnancy, either condoms will be in the future, or a vascetomy for the male partner. That is a sure way to prevent pregnancy.

We use them for a couple reasons.
1. We have two small children and aren't certain if we want more.
2. My wife has a condition that the medication helps mitigate.

For many women, "the pill" is more than birth-control. It can smooth out difficult or dangerous cycles.

I know alot of couples, married and single, who use it because they're just not ready. One friend was married to her husband for 5 years and was on the pill. She wanted to finish school before starting a family. Smart desicion.

So they do not want to have an unplanned pregnancy, or because they have not yet been tested for HIV and should. Or because one of them is not being faithful, could be any number of things. God bless
