Is this such a bad thing? After all. Satan doesn't cause tsunamis or brain tumors. Those are all acts of God. Besides, he punishes the souls that are damned to Hell, therefore he works for God. Should Satan have a holiday?

Since Halloween the "eve" before All Saints Day, celebrating the Saints and the departed, of course not. The fact that we bring out all our "fears" to be put to rest the next day by the Saints is anything but devilish.

By the way, our culture is so death-phobic it is pitiful. In other cultures they take death and the "evil" of life as a part of life and even celebrate it.

Your question makes sense, based on many commonly-held beliefs. But most of those beliefs are faulty.

1) God doesn't cause tsunami's or brain tumors. An insurance agency calling them "Acts of God" is a misnomer. Ecclesiastes 9:11 says: "I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all." Accidents happen. Many are caused by man's mistakes and mis-management of the planet.

2) Fiery hell does not exist, and Satan is not the god of some tormented underworld. That teaching was borrowed by apostate Christianity well after the apostles were dead. It's used to scare people into doing whatever the church tells them. This teaching is NOT found in the Bible. This lie makes God look cruel and unloving. The original words in Hebrew and Greek that are translated Hades, Sheol, etc simply mean the common grave of mankind, where everyone goes.

To illustrate:
Suppose you had a disobedient child. To punish him, would you hold his hand on a hot stove, even for a second? Absolutely not! You'd have social services called on you for being a horrible parent, and rightly so. Does it make sense to you for God to torture someone FOREVER just for the sins of 80 years? No.

3) Satan does not work for God, he is God's sworn enemy and will soon be removed from the world scene. If people started dressing up in Nazi uniforms and going door to door asking for things, would you excuse them if they tried to rationalize it in any way? No.

Should Satan have a holiday? No.

Tsunamis and brain tumors are NOT acts of god.
"Act of God" is simply an expression made up by insurance companies so they don't have to pay.
There is no fiery torment.
That is an idea invented by the Catholic Church to scare people into paying money to be supposedly delivered from it.
Therefore there is no talk about Satan working for God.
Halloween is not indirectly worshiping Satan.
It is DIRECTLY worshipping Satan.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

If Halloween is indirectly worshipping Satan, then if I say "I think Jesus was a good person with good ideas" am I indirectly a Christian?

Actually you´re wrong, Satan does cause tsunamis and brain tumors and many other things so that people like you can blame it all on God. The devil tests you to see how weak and gullible you are, and when you participate in Halloween, yes, you are indirectly worshiping the devil.

To me Halloween is just a time of being creative and dressing up. A festive Holiday. At one time it celebrated the burning of witches(doctors called them witches because they were midwives doing a job the doctors felt was wrong for women to be doing for corrupt reasons) but, anymore people just use it as a time for fun.

Halloween has nothing to do with satan in my book. It's a time to dress up and have a good time. For many, it's a chance to be their alter ego for a day. For example... If you've always wanted to be a pirate, a cowboy, or even Superman. This is the day for it. Lighten up and have fun on this day my friend. You only live once.

i could % to be the 1st to call you an fool. Halloween isn't a non secular trip it is a typical trip with out connection to Paganism yet somewhat it had originated because of the fact of Christianity. The Pagans rejoice the trip Samhain which suits by using distinctive names it is a harvest trip. yet once you have been to ask any Pagan in the event that they rejoice Halloween they'll all permit you already know a similar answer and that could desire to be No and the reason of that's because of the fact Halloween has Christian origins. Pope St. Gregory III had to transform the Celtic Pagans to Christianity so what he had accomplished replaced into moved the non secular trip All Saints Day from could thirteenth to November 1st on the Pagan trip of Samhain. the trip All Saints Day is basically that it is the day which replaced into set aside by using the Church to honor the saints notably the martyrs that died for their faith in Christ who're in Heaven. the place in the Hell do you get devil from an afternoon that honors the saints in Heaven? And Pope St. Gregory III went one step extra and added yet another day after all Saints Day which may well be All Souls Day on November 2nd. On All Saints Day a Mass could be provided for the saints in Heaven and on All Souls Day a Mass could be provided for the elect in Purgatory. The night in the previous November 1st that's October thirty first the Celtic Pagans believed that evil spirits roamed the international so as that they wore mask to scare them away, in Christianity evil spirits are demons so somewhat of rejecting this custom the Christians embraced this custom and made it their own. there is not any such subject as puritian Christianity it in no way existed because of the fact Christianity grew to alter into component to distinctive cultures. whilst Christians had converted peoples of distinctive cultures they abopted those cultures and made them their own, this dates decrease back to the Apostles having accomplished that themselves. So the night in the previous All Saints Day replaced into observed as All Saints night, then All Holy night, then All Hallows night, then All Hallows Eve, then finally Halloween. Over the centuries Halloween moved faraway from being component to a non secular trip and grew to alter right into a typical trip. issues like enjoying pranks, trick-or-treating, costumes, decorations, events, jack-o-lanterns, and so on. originated from society no longer from the Church.
