Take a small piece of hair (about an inch in thickness) and twist it tightly so it sort of makes a long curly que, like a piece of licorice. the split ends will sort of stick out and fringe from that twist, from the top to the bottom. Take scissors and cut that fringe off. You won't be sacrificing any length at all and won't really be able to tell you cut anything, except that it will be smooth again.
then also use a smoothing product in your hair when you style it. Some sort of defrizz serum will tame those ends and make them look great.

You will have to get some form of a trim, but depending on the damage, it should not be more than a 1/4"in that is cut, and it will make your hair look much healthier!
As for prevention, one of the best products is Korres Rice Protiens Serum for Split Ends which you can apply daily just to the tips of your hair(and smells absolutely amazing!) and it's available on sephora. Kiehls silk groom is another wonderful daily hair condioner that also adds control and shine as well as protecting hair from damage. Just a little is needed and it really works well for all hair types.

There are things you can do to repair your hair but infortunately you need to cut off the dead hair. If you want you should trim it every month. so you wont be able to notice the length change much. Also hair grows quicker if you have it cut more frequently. Try using head and shoulders. and only use conditioner on your ends not your whole head. and when you blow dry your hair only blow dry it part way and scrunch it in your hands while blow drying it. dont put it up a lot..hair elastics and buns and such split and rip your hair. oh also dont wash your hair as much try three to four times a week...MAX...good luck!

Once a hair splits it cannot be repaired. There are preventive things that you can use like deep conditioners but, once the damage is done you need to cut split ends off.

The only way to get rid of split ends it to cut them off. If your hair is that long, cutting an inch or two won't make a difference and it will make it look healthier and prettier.

Yes you can take steps towards repairing split ends but you still need to cut at least a little at a time. The reason you need to cut it is because the ends split too fast . They split much faster than any treatment repair timeframe.

You really can't. Since hair is technically dead specialized skin cells stacked end on end, there is no way to glue the split ends together. Trim your hair and use a good shampoo and conditioner to keep the split ends from happening so often. They're inevitable, but with good hair care, they don't happen as often.

Split hair ends is same as a log of firewood split w/ax---its split & in 2 pieces.Split ends will continue to go up the hair shaft until trimmed off.
All you probably need is a 1 inch trim & you will not miss it.
Request when going to hair salon you only want a 1 inch trim to ends only.

Cutting of a half inch to an inch isn't all that much and will make your ahir look nicer. Having long hair full of split ends sort of defeats the purpose of having long hair. You want it to look nice, right? Once the end is split, it's split.
I suggest trims every month or so, just a half inch, to keep you hair looking nice, not just long.

Once hair is split it can't "come together" again. You can only prevent more splitting by using heavy conditioners meant to repair. If you want them gone and you have to cut it.
