Depends on laws in your state and your insurance carrier. The company I work for can only insure drivers that live here in NC. So we wouldn't be able to do such a thing. It may be different at other companies.

If I were you, I wouldn't want someone who doesn't live with me on my policy to start with. If they are not a regular operator of your vehicles, there is no need to list them on your policy anyway.

Best thing you can do is call your agent.

Uusually you don't have to unless they are regular operators of the vehicle. Since that person doesn't live with you, there may be no need. The best thing to do, is check with your insurance agent. On the other hand, you may have a policy that requires all drivers to be listed. Call you agent!

Uh, why?
The principle behind putting someone on your policy is that he/she will be a regular driver. If that's the case, then you can call your company about adding this person. If you're talking infrequent usage, like once or twice a year, there is no need to do that.

I believe you can add them but remember their driving record will be checked. If they have a bad record your insurance will go up.
I'd tell my agent this person was coming to where you are and that is why you want to add them. You will need their Driver license number, D.O.B. and possibly their SS number.
