I suppose, like everything else, it is a matter of opinion! my opinion is this:
It is real until it isn't!
There are too many things that a lot of these people do that can not be dismissed as pure luck or 'just guessing'. How can you guess the name, birth place, age and illness of a person you have never met and whom died nearly forty years before you were born. I suppose they could have done some research before the show happened but what would be the purpose? Either they are real or they aren't! Why waist their time pretending, that's too much work!
Now, this isn't to say I believe every single one of them, but it only stands to reason that not all of them are fake. I find it curious how so many people would fail to believe this ability to be untrue when the bible clearly dictates other wise.
I find it even more curious that some Christians, not all, say it is all fake when, again, the Bible clearly states otherwise!
I am not a Christian but I was raised as such! I suppose, like I've said and will continue to say, People are afraid of things they don't understand! It is difficult to battle against Faith, however it is a little difficult to find and convert new children when you don't believe your own teachings.
Okay, my opinion, went a bit far, but you get the idea!

I dont think they are fake ... i do think however that to make Tv entertaining , they have to exagerate highly
more so with derek and colin
i do find watching John Edwars a little more realistic and similar to the way mediums would work in spiritualist church etc
i think in the begining these people no doubt started as good mediums and i have seen reports on their pre TV time as a medium and they were each well respected in their field
but when that limlight hits them , something happens to their ego

Most of them are fake. I am not sure I really believe in that stuff but there are a lot of curious people that make me think twice.

I think they're shysters, and that's the nicest word I can come up with, and I happen to believe in those abilities!
