I grew up in a Southern Baptist church. Somehow Southern Baptists are convinced that drinking any alcohol, buying, selling, or even supporting a business that sells alcohol is a sin. I read the entire Bible just trying to find this commandment. I see many commandments not to get drunk all the time, but never to not drink alcohol. I beleive Jesus drank wine on a couple of accounts, so I do not see it as a sin.
My Dad was always kind of looked down on regarding his approach toward alcohol because he did not believe having a drink was a sin, but He never drank anything that I know of.
I believe a glass of wine is definetly not a sin (Catholic or not). The whole idea seems to be derived from the forming of early churchs in the United States as there are very few cultures who believe it is a sin at all.
I do believe however that you should not do anything to cause you brother to stumble. Therefor you must watch the company you have when you have some wine. If someone thinks it is a sin and it may cause them to stumble in thier faith, it is a sin.
Glass of wine is fine. Bottle of wine on lunch may be pushing it.
God Bless.

Christianity obeys the Bible which teaches moderation in everything. It's no more a sin to have a little wine with a meal than it is to overeat at the same meal. Paul told Timothy to have a little wine for his stomach. No...it is not a sin but everything should be done in moderation. So, don't use any kind of alcohol to get high or drunk or it would be a sin.

Christ turned water into wine at a wedding celebration. Was he a purveyor of sin? Was he a sinner? I think not. It is not the drink that is a sin, but cursed are the drunk. Was this a a declaration of sin or was it an observation of alcoholism? I guess even sin is subject to interpretation. I believe all things in moderation.

Drinking alcohol turns into a sin when you drink too much and get drunk...nothing wrong with a glass of wine for lunch or dinner.

Lunch without wine might be a sin, actually.
ETA: Especially if, as mentioned above, lunch is pasta.

My Lord would have me be filled with the Holy Spirit rather be drunk. But, I have never been convicted of drinking a little as a sin. Only if it would offend someone else whose faith is weak. Or if I was around an alcoholic.

Jesus said a little wine is good for the stomach. And it depends on the person. I could not, because I am a recovering alcholoic, and I have promised God I would never drink again. I take communion at church, but we use grape juice instead of wine.
