Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients.
Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale.
Your local United Way may also be aware of such a clinic. In some areas, you can reach them now by dialing 2-1-1 for "non-emergency information."
Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs.
Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you.
Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you.
Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

Unfortunately getting them fixed is not free. It can be quite expensive to get the little things fixed too. I just went through having braces and while I still had them on i was in a car wreck and hit one of my front teeth. Just for the root canal it was $400 then to have the tooth bleached internally to make it look good again or normal was an additional $200. This isn't permanent either, depending on the tooth itself it may need to be re-bleached every 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, or even a few years. If my tooth later decides that it isn't going to take to the bleach anymore I will be forced to get a veneer which at this time runs about $1400. The braces were $3500. The retainers (to replace them) are $400 each. To have my teeth cleaned every six months is about $200. It has been worth the pain and the money but it is expensive and I still haven't gotten everything done. This being said I have always had my cleanings etc done and still have run into issues. I wish you the best of luck and a windfall of money to pay for your needs.

Unless you're really poor or handicapped in some way, nobody can survive on doing pro bono work. Everyone needs to earn a living. A few ways to get teeth fixed free:
1)Marry a rich significant other
2)Get a dentist as a significant other
3)Get your parents/relatives/friends/siblings who are close to you to pay for treatment.
If all else fails, volunteer to be the dentist's assistant for free till your bills are paid ! :)

Many universities and dental programs will have free dental visits, cleanings, and repair in trade for using a person as the patient for their dental board exams or classes.
Many dental students will even pay for their subjects to appear at the dental board exams, ranging from cash to trips up to a main city (San Franciso, for example) for the exams.
If you qualify for DPSS (welfare), you can get dental services through Medicaid/Medi-Cal.
Also, look for annual free programs offerred by churches, temples, and community outreach centers, particularly during festivals nad other public interest events.
