I have an LG washing machine (model: WM-1280FHD) and the door will not open. The cycle has finished, the drum is empty of water and the door has 'clicked' as per usual to notify that the safety lock is off. I don't really want to pay £50 for some cowboy repair man to open it... any suggestions anyone??!?!

Hit the door very hard over the lock. Works wonders when this happens...

I think it's an electronic door catch and possibly expired, better call an experienced washerman, bad luck, sometimes various doors can be opened from the inside by removing the lid and fiddling about with the machine unplugged (thats the case with Hotpoints) but LG are mostly electronic sealed units sooooooo, call the man.

I have had this happen on previous machines before. Switch it off at the mains and on again and run another wash (the shortest cycle on your dial) and it should open next time. Sometimes it just "forgets" to activate the latch.

perhaps the drum is not completely empty. thats what happened to mine. i had to wait quite a while, but once i did open i realised that i had a prob with drainage and had to call a guy in anyway.
try opening the front panel (with towels underneath) and drain the drum out. worth a try. usually you open it with a big screwdriver or the flat of a butterknife. good luck

Even though you say that it's emptied it's worth checking your filter if this is blocked it will not have emptied fully or if your waste flexi pipe is crushed then back pressure from the water will keep your door closed.
If these are OK then it's an engineer you need
Good Luck

The socks that you lost several months ago are jamming it!

on serious note, as this is under year old (it's new model number) then it's covered by warranty! check out your book.

Unplug it, and wait 5 minutes.
