Best is to get a cheap ticket to Bangkok and from there take a domestic flight to Phuket. Check priceline or similar sites for best deals.

Depends on the time of year as to which way is cheapest, but you can fly directly from London to Bangkok with Thai Airlines, Qantas, BA, or Eva Air,
Then from there buy a cheap internal flight with Thai Airlines or Bangkok Airways (around £90 return).

Call West East Travel, they always come up with the best deals, all my friends in Thai Silk Restaurant & Bar in Southwark, SE1 use them all the time.
They also say that they can find flights cheaper than anyone and if you do find prices cheaper elsewhere, they will not match the price, they will simply beat it
get them on 0870 220 1001 or www.westeasttravel.com
