Hopefully its just as a threat. The world could change is the start making the things then selling them to the highest bidder to boost their pitiful economy.

To them communism is everything. The Koreans think that they will be safe from Bush or someone like him if they have the bomb. They saw what happened to Saddam who didn't have nukes and didn't want to end up that way and they didn't want to do like we want them to do either so they figure the bomb is the best answer. It will also force countries to deal with them on equal terms not as some peasant country. They hope to force there neighbors to break the sanctions which have been on for decades. I believe in the end they will get what they want.

They are pursuing the "bomb" because they are sure the U.S. wants to attack them and they think it will serve as a deterent. The other reason is they can use it as a bargaining tool. They are one of, if not the poorest nation in the world. They rely on China and the U.N. to feed their own people. So they figure they will prove they have a weapon and then put the program to rest after they get what tehy want from the world, especially the U.S.

unfortunatley, North Korea, specifically Kim Jong Il, has no reservation about using the nuclear bomb. This, of course, would be a huge mistake.

he is setting hisself up to be murdered assasinated or whatever. the world isnt going to sit by and watch this idiot set off a nuclear bomb. he intends on going after s.korea and japan and when this happens all hell is going to break loose. we have no reason to go into korea he is using this as an excuse is all.

they are trying toprove that they are a force to be reckened with. In turn if they are dumb enough to shot off a nuke this world can bend over and kiss our butts goodbye. I am sure the US wont be the only one firing back. This stuff is getting outta control and really very scary!!!

All i can figure out from North Korea doing this crap is that i hope that my hubs who is already scheduled to deploy to Iraq for the 3rd time doesn't end up getting screwed and having to go to North Korea. I please please please hope not. And it will happen if they keep it up, I just hope we are smarter this time bout how to take care of the situation.
