They were very happy that the intelligent wing of the Democratic party took up the flag of equal rights, but were again disappointed when they were scooped off the streets by the Democrat controlled government to die in the Republican started, Vietnam war.

As a reflection of society as a whole. Blacks knew with a change in the hearts of American citizens there would come a change in government. I have seen huge progress, since my youth, in the citizens and the government is following along slowly. Unfortunately the government has been influenced by reverse racists or those who favor Affirmative Action, which is just a slap in the face for a black who wants equal opportunity, not "special favors". Affirmative Action is the same as a racist telling me I'm not as capable on my own as he is.

We have to be careful since many organizations which purport to be helpful are actually harmful to the equality movement that should exist.
Race-oriented organizations like Black Caucus, KKK, and Hyphenated organizations like African-American, French-American, Greek-American, etc. actually foster the separation of people. In the process they also contribute to racism.
Eventually the members of these organizations will begin to think of themselves as "special" and all others as "inferior."

I agree with the black gunman , the change has come in the people not the goverment.there is a lot of difference today among the whites and the blacks but there is still racism and always will be. As time passes so will a lot of racism. morgan freeman best said it. in order for racism to go away is to quit talking about it. let it die.
