Yep. you can defrost it in the Microwave. Just make sure it is on defrost ok. Dont leave it in too long else it will start cooking. I defrost chicken etc never had food poisoning, just dont defrost and then freeze again that is looking for trouble. Good luck to you, not that you need it, just good luck:)))

Refreezing raw meat, poultry and fish is not a good idea. Just cook the extra meat into burger and freeze them or cook up a batch of chile. To defrost mince in the microwave, use the defrost setting. Check the meat after 4-5 minutes and remove any defrosted mince from the frozen meat. Continue to remove the defrosted mince every few minutes. If you allow the entire block of frozen meat to defrost all at once, the outside meat will start to cook. Note: You can just remove enough mince for your hamburgers, then refreeze the still frozen block of mince.

No you could get very unwell from doing this as the meat has already been defrosted and should not be refrozen. You would be better to buy some fresh meat and make into burgers and then freeze in portions. Then if you want to cook up the burgers just defrost in microwave and cook. You will need to make sure it is properly defrosted and cooked all the way through as well

Yes, you can - but be careful that the outside doesn't cook whilst the inside is still frozen. When defrosting it in the microwave, break the mince up placing the softened parts towards the centre with the still frozen sides outermost.
I've been known to defrost mince by putting it in a pan over a very low heat and stirring constantly to break it up.
Meat is only dangerous to health if served undercooked, it would be VERY difficult to serve undercooked mince as it cooks in no time at all.

I defrost in a sink full of hot water. It defrosts fast and it doesn't start cooking, like it does in the mirowave.
By the way, is mince the equivalent of American hamburger? Just curious.

Providing you have a defrost button, (some of the older ones don't) then yes you can defrost in microwave safely.

yes it should be okay but dont defrost it for too long or it will cook.
Or just start to cook it on a low heat and it will soon thaw out. I have done this several times before and im okay so i know this is a safe technique

Should be OK - I have defrosted steak.
I put it in the microwave for quite a while on a really low setting and kept checking on it.
It didn't taste as nice as it does fresh but if you need to have it then you need to have it.

yes you can - just be careful not to overdo it - mince will start to pre cook when being defrosted in a microwave - it wont kill you but it makes the mince a bit 'gritty' when its cooked
