So, what's the big deal? Just answer his frigging question already. Is the amount you pay for your mortgage a top secret or something? Most people talk about this stuff openly every day of the week. Maybe pal, you should look into your past (upbringing). Your problem is deep rooted. Sounds like you have a communication problem to me! Seek some kind of professional help. or you'll always have problems throughout life. This behavior is usually caused by the way you were brought up. To never reveal personal matters to the neighbors, or anyone. I know, I was brought up the same exact way. It is not easy to shed, believe me. Good luck to you.

It could be two possible things:
1- he is nosey and rude
2- he just wants to get an estimate of how much you pay because he is interested in buying a house.
Since you know him you are the only one that can determine which of the two situations is right--and if not then just ask him why was he asking.

It truly depends.
Had you ordered an expensive late... maybe a brownie mocha frapachino?
He might ahve been subversively questioning your frivolous spending habits!
You should be ok as long as you are locked into a fixed APR , if you gambled on an adjustable rate morgage you may be kicking yourself over the next fourty or so years.

What if I asked, How old are you? you said old, I would want to know! anyways, you caould give him a rough estimate and that would satisfy the both of you. The estmate doesn't have to be exact, It wasn't rude of hime, you just took it the wrong way.

He might be looking to buy and wants to know what the average payment is. I wouldn't hold it against him. It's not like he asked how many people you have slept with. How many? Come on tell me. J/K

Not really. He's probably just looking to get an idea of housing costs . Sometimes the fastest way to do that is to just start asking people.
Just don't give him your social security number. ;)

I personally am very private with money issues. My boyfriend is too, he just recently told me how much he sold his car for when we had first started dating...If this is someone you dont know very well, I think thats a pretty rude question...Perhaps he was raised differently, though.

it depends if this is a close friend or just a friend.... you should know how close he is to you, but if you don't feel comfortable talking about your private stuff you should let him know.
