It seems that when a woman wants a guy who is tall, slim, well dressed, she is superficial but it is ok for a guy to want a woman who is shapley and sexy and all. I see ugly rock stars (the ones with the skinny scrawny bodies) hanging on to sexy models and porn stars and all but you don't see any handsome sexy model type men hanging on to ugly or obese women. It seems like we women are supposed to look a certain way and then settle for a less than idea man. The fat pot bellied man expects a woman who is slim and sexy but a less than attractive woman can get a tall slim attractive man. It just seems like a double standard. In my case I am not supposed to want a man who makes a decent living and has a good education because that makes me a golddigger but a man can reject me because I don't make a lot of money, so why doesn't that make him a golddigger too since he shouldn't care about how little I make.

guys are attracted to girls in a physical way...more girls are attracted to guys in an emotional way....as far as being picky about the money...that doen'st make you a gold digger ....but you can't set minimums on a persons ability's..Its all about what you value the most...

Good question. It is true that men are "wired" to be visually stimulated so it's only natural for them to want a girl who is beautiful, to turn them on. But I do think it's a bit silly of men who expect their woman to keep herself up as a trophy wife, while they grow a beer belly, refuse to shave, kick back and put their feet up and let the woman do everything, and stop exercising or lifting weights or whatever. Women are also sexually attracted by a man's appearance (it's not #1 on the list, but it is definitely on the list!). I can love a man for who he is, not what he looks like; yet I do agree with you that it's only fair that both the guy and the girl maintain their appearance, just because they love each other and want to remain attractive to each other! P.S. The reason I included "kick back and put their feet up and let the woman do everything" about the men, is that if they don't participate in helping out their wife with the chores, they have no right to complain when she's too tired - or doesn't have time - after working, taking care of the kids and doing all the housework, to go to the gym and maintain her figure. Men like to complain that their wives get fat after they get married, but some of these same men refuse to acknowledge that THEY are the reason she doesn't get out and exercise, because they leave her to do everything around the house - thus giving her no time or energy for the gym. =)

There has always been a double standard......
Also when people have money and are not attractive, they buy what they want......
It started way back when.. the women couldn't own property, couldn 't vote or could be committed to institutions by their husbands.
with the women's movement,. alot of this has changed to make things more equal.. Unfortunately there aren't enough women who believe we are equal to men... so men get a feeling of superiority and think they can do no wrong.
I wouldn't worry about the public and what they think, as long as in your heart , mind, body and spirit you are doing what you think is right.....
You must have expectations of yourself before you can have expectations for someone else....
