Muslim women wear veils to cover themselves and to be recognized as muslim women in soceity. It also covers there beauty for only there husbands to see. Have you ever heard of a man being raped by a women? The answer is no, or maybe very rare. Maybe thats why men don't wear hijab. Take this scenario, 2 women are walking down the street. One is wearing a mini-skirt with a top on and another is wearing a muslim hijab or veil. Which one do you think that men would be whistling and hollaring at? And it has nothing to do with a women being a lesser form of man.

In Islam, both men and women are expected to be modest in their dress, but women cover their face and hair so as not to display their beauty to anyone other than their husband. I don't think women are viewed as 'unclean', but from what I know of Islam (not a lot) I do think there is a certain amount of inequality between men and women, and being covered is possibly part of an attempt to control women. But I don't know about that.

Modesty is important in Islam. Covering themselves is another way of expressing their faith to Allah. Also, Muslims believe that a woman's beauty is only for her husband. This prevents many issues, like sexual harrassment and rape. I didn't understand it at first either, but after I did some research and spoke to some Muslims, I realized that most of the woman prefer to dress this way. I will soon be moving to an Islamic nation, and I will not wear a veil, but I will dress modestly. I respect their culture and their religion, as well as the man I will be marrying (the reason I am moving).

to know this answer you have to study the torah the bible and the quran. because islam is largely influenced by judaism. a lot of muslim customs used to be pre islamaic. muslims inherited this from the jews and christians. in orthodox christianity the women still cover their hair with a hijab or scarf. in judaism their married women shave their head every month this why you see orhtodox jewish women wear a short scarf or a WIG. muslim are also following this tradition. the niqab is pre islamic and a custom for arabs. not muslim .in the old pre islamic days all the beautiful women used to get snached for their beauty so the olders of then decided impose certain dress codes to protect their women. most muslim are ignorent and do not know their history.

If you visit a Muslim Country you will see that also the men normally dress modestly. You will not see men in shorts or with sleeveless shirts. Many of them keep a long beard - it's probably their way of covering their face.

Hi. Muslim men are subject to the same visual effects are anyone else. Micro skirts just don't fit in. I don't believe it has anything to do with women being perceived as 'unclean'.

Hi there,
There are many virtues on the ruling on the veil.
Heres one to start off with
Question:
is it right for someone to say that since wearing hijab is not one of the five pillars of islam therefore it is really not that important?
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
This is a mistake, because hijaab is obligatory for women. Allaah is the One Who has commanded women to cover their adornments, including the face, bosom and all their adornments. This has been enjoined upon women as a protection against abuse and temptation. That is because women are the focus of desire, and the focus of what those who are tempted look at. So if a woman uncovers her beauty she will provoke desire, and people will become attracted to her and will follow her. This is the cause of many immoral actions such as adultery and the things that lead to it. So hijaab is obligatory for women and was enjoined upon them in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“…and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)…”
[al-Noor 24:31]
The veil (khimaar) is that which comes down from the head and covers the face, and the jilbaab is an outer garment with which a woman covers herself, leaving no part of her body showing.
And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“…And when you ask (his [the Prophet’s] wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen…”
[al-Ahzaab 33:53]
So it is a protection for women so that there will be no room for people to treat them as playthings.
Question:
Is wearing niqaab one of the conditions of Islamic dress for women?
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
Hijaab in Arabic means covering or concealing. Hijaab is the name of something that is used to cover. Everything that comes between two things is hijaab.
Hijaab means everything that is used to cover something and prevent anyone from reaching it, such as curtains, door keepers and garments, etc.....
