I am thinking of joining. Not that if boot camp is hard it won't deter me. I was just interested in knowing before I sign up. Thanks.

It nothing like Full Metal Jacket. The actual only scary thing is the first night b/c you don't know what to expect or what's really in store for you. You get yelled at a lot, but you just take it. Don't eyeball your RDC either, cuz that's what I got yelled at for when I first got there almost 5 years ago.
Other than that, it was easy and there were fun times. The food was great and the pt wasn't hard. From then until now it seems to have gotten easier. We had service week and that's when you got to really meet people b/c divisions worked together in the galley or wherever you were assigned to work. I hear they don't do that anymore. That's a shame. It should have been a breeze for Jennanderton2006's husband. He must have been exaggerating b/c we were never up at 4 am or went to bed at midnight.

Easy, not even close to full metal jacket. Just head game's... sure it's physical, but it's nothing compared to the Army or Marines. I went to Navy boot camp in San Diego, and the Marine boot camp was right next to us... when ever we were feeling down, we just had to look over a fence and thank God we weren't over there...

go to military.com they said that the Army's boot camp is toned down in that the drill instructors don't yell as much but i don't know if its the same with the navy....

my hubby went through boot camp for the navy five years ago and he said it was really hard.they run all the time and do other exercises nonstop. plus marching drills. your up at 4 am and in bed by midnight if noone screws up. hen you might not get to bed til 2am. its very hard mentally and physically
