Long before 9/11 or even Halloween there have been people with bizarre and perverted ideas of children only waiting for some opportunity so forget 9/11 has not added any additional problem.

If you have any thought for your children you would accompany them beyond your eyesight of the house.

The latest idea to surface is to get the kids to help you design a small "Happy Halloween" card with a picture of a scary pumpkin or whatever you can find on the front and a verse inside then print and give them more than they will need or when they use them up they return home. The kids then carry **nothing** but these small cards in their pockets and when they meet someone on the doorstep one of them gives the homeowner a "scare" and a card rather than accept lollies or gifts. Kids love the idea if they get to make them and you remove all worries of embarrassment and keep the fun of Halloween as the kids visit homes.

You have to make the effort and the kids have fun as it always should be.......

9/11 happened 5 years ago... and what does it have to do with trick or treating? Yes, my children will be out in full force as always with parental supervision. I don't see myself taking them to any place that would be a target for terrorist. Now if someone thought about trick or treating where there are a ton of people and could be possibly be a target, if they are worried about being attacked then maybe they should go else where, but in truth why let someone else dictate where and when you go somewhere. Life is way to short to live in fear....im more likely to be in another car accident than in a place where a terrorist act will occur.

The 9/11 attacks were 5 years ago, why wouldn't you let your kids go trick or treating? What does 9/11 have to do with it anyway?

You kids are more likely to be kidnapped by pedophiles than subjected to a terrorist plot to ruin Halloween.

I personally feel that 9-11 is absolutely not a factor in whether anyone goes trick or treating. Problems with the mentally ill and demented people in this world started way before 9-11. I remember back in 1975, trick or treating was stopping, and parties at firehouses or police stations, is what was done. Then you took your candy to have it scanned at the x-ray at the hospital. Because of the razor blades in apples, and what not. Unfortunately, the world is not what is used to be, its very sad.

What does terrorists flying planes into the World Trade Centers five years ago, and kids dressing up and going door to door for candy have anything to do with each other? It's somewhat of a tradition now that those of us who grew up together got married, moved away, and had kids come back to the old street and trick or treat with our kids. We get to see old friends and neighbors and they get see us and our kids. Even my parents trick or treated with us until I was, gosh, maybe 12 and able to take my brothers myself. Even then, we never left the cul de sac I grew up on. My father, who was a policeman, insisted my mother dump the candy out on the table and examine it before we ate any of it. He'd call home to remind us even if he was working. I never let my brothers eat any of it before my mother looked at it. Caution and paranoia look the same but aren't.

If you don't feel safe letting your kids walk around your neighborhood, check with your local shopping mall. A lot of them have a special Trick or Treat hours for kids to go to each of the shops for candy. The candy is supplied by the Mall office and security guards are also walking the mall. Your safest bet!

Unless you've been stuck in a hole you know that 911 was years ago and that each year since many many many families have let their children go trick or treating. Its not even terrorists that we should worry about... Its the sick individuals born and raised here as Americans that have made Halloween a cautious night for the young ones.

Uh, yes...what does trick or treating this year have to do with September 11th? Halloween is on October 31, 2006 NOT September 11, 2001. I don't see the relationship???
