I received an email from someone who informed me that I was backsliding because I am asking Muslims about their religion, and that they will pray for my soul.
They also said that they don't think I am Christian because I actually like some of the people on here who are not Christian and those athiests.

My question is this: Do you think it's attitudes like the one in the email I got that cause some of the anger toward Christians?

It's your choice not to believe me and the person who sent me the mail did not say. It is my assumption they believe they are.

In checking said persons profile, this person claims to be Christian. I will not 'out' this person.
I will, however, tell you they frequent Y!A R&S

It is exactly the reason why there is so much anger on here towards Christians. How can we defend what we believe if we do not research other religions and see how they compare with ours. And I think the athiests ask some very good questions, questions that make me want to dig into my bible deeper. So I think my faith is growing because of this site. it's not backsliding at all.

Yes, that's part of it.

I'm probably pointing out the obvious, but you might want to consider not opening emails from people here. I don't unless I either recognize the name and know they're not nasty, or I look them up and make a guess. I've deleted a few without reading them because I know it's just going to be some rant.

That really only requires a one word answer: Yes.

It is also one of the things that requires me to have a strong faith in my path that is not christian. When you get the massive, "you are going to hell, but you need to believe in Jesus anyway" shoved at you when you are willing to make your faith known, it takes a strong person to simply walk away. I may not have the ultimate right answer, but I do have the one I need to satisfy my faith. The attitude you are referring to is also one that has me questioning the strength of their faith.

My opinion is that is is good to know about how others believe. It gives a chance for common ground, or at least compassion and understanding. Sorry if I got wordy, this is a sore spot with me.

You have to forgive all . Not some but all. Sometimes it takes people a long time to realize God. But that does not mean you should stop talking to them because of their choices. We all have them. That means no one in the world would talk to each other. No two people are alike..

Well for one thing asking someone or being curious about their relgious belief would not be enough to warrant your going to hell...I never knew curiosity was a sin? that is a new one on me.....and another thing....only God is qualifed or has the ability to see what is in another person's heart..and it is His decision on who goes to hell....

I find that the majority of Christians are huge hypocrites. Yes, I do think they cause a lot of anger, and problems. Soooooo Christianly...dont you think?

Sure--most people are so in love with themselves (self esteem) that they can not take any criticism at all.

"Believers (Muslims), take neither Jews nor Christians to be your
friends: they are friends with one another.
Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number,
and God does not guide (those Jewish and Christian) wrong-doers." - Sura 5:51

Probably. I won't call anyone a backslider or unsaved, as I don't personally know. I only know about me.

You never stated whether or not the person who e-mailed you was a Christian. I wouldn't assume. Perhaps that person's Religion is implied, and perhaps it is not.
