I think the problem here is that you are making a rather dangerous assumption. You have assumed that because muslim women wear the veils within the UK, they are trying to mask themselves from British men. The truth of the matter is that such a practice is part of their culture. The wearing of the veil is not meant to deter British men. Actually, I would say that British men--heck, even the UK itself--have nothing to do with it. It's just a form of modesty, one that is practiced by muslim females in many parts of the world--not just the UK.

You've made the determination that her cultural norms are invalid or at least inconsistent with life in the UK. You're asking them to disregard part of their religious doctrine for your own comfort. That violates her right to free expression of religion. Whats the difference between a person wearing a veil and an Indian woman wearing a sari or a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke? Both are expressions of their religion and culture.

In their religion, it is their choice whether they cover themselves or not. And why should they be prevented from doing so? They do not suggest that they are looked at only as sex objects, but believe that they have promised themselves to their husbands, and dont feel the need to flash flesh to the rest of the British population.
You dont see them being whistled at or pinched by some pock faced, adolescent, socially retarded male. And in any case, do you suggest that we should all now not wear scarves, sunglasses or balaclavas? Are you saying that specifically muslim women must expose themselves, but everyone else can hide their faces?
Britain is not free if their choice in clothes is restricted.

I have read a lot about so called "honor killings" of Muslim women and how they are forced to be subservient to the males in their families and I see the veil as just another way to keep them "under the boot" so to speak. I don't think they should have to wear the veils. More than likely they are still being forced.

Who said this "They say they wear veils so men do not "oggle" at them(Jalfreizi)" is wrong. It is Biblical that women are pure and they should always be pure.
Anyway they choose to wear it Islam does not tell them to do it. In Iraq women did not wear veils they could if they chose to.

MUSLIM WOMEN WEAR VEILS AS PART OF THEIR RELIGIOUS PRACTICE. THEY FEAR RAPE FROM THEIR OWN IF THEY DON'T WEAR THEM IT'S SAD BUT TRUE
Peasant and working-class women who did not cover in these ways were considered "loose" and fair game for assault. This non-respectable and therefore vulnerable status of unveiled women also plays out in the Muslim context, going back to a Koranic passage which specifically designates veiling as marking out Muslim women not to be molested on the streets. Its historical roots go back further, to the neighboring Byzantine empire's enforcement of veiling codes which impute high social rank to families whose women are veiled. These were in turn based on Greek and Roman values of male honor and female shame, and of public space as male space
MUSLIM WOMEN HAVE BEEN RAPED AND ASSAULTED FOR NOT WEARING THEIR BURKA'S. IT IS ALLOWED BY MUSLIM CLERICS, THAT SAY IF A MUSLIM WOMEN DOES NOT WEAR HER VEIL SHE IS ASKING FOR RAPE.
LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE ITS ALL OVER ESPECIALLY IN FRANCE WHERE THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME CONTROLLING THEIR MUSLIM POPULATION.

Why is it a problem? Most men look at all women as sex objects. Its their way of life. The men there in the ("veil wearing country's) made that law .I don't see a problem with it.Here in the USA its seen quite often along with men in turbans, and women that wear their native dress.
As long as they are in the USA legally I don't care what they wear.

I don't have any problem with people dressing or behaving in a way that is dictated my their religion as long as it does not harm anyone. Muslim women wearing burkas is fine with me. If they put bombs under their burkas, I have a problem.
