here are the straight facts: ht. 5'1", weight 99 lbs., age 26, female, take vitamins daily, work out about 5 times a week, eat about 800-1,000 calories per day, drink about 400-500 calories per day in alcohol.

strange, i know. basically, i cut out a few hundred cals of food and replace it with alcohol.

i might add that i am a vegetarian whose diet largely consists of mass amounts of veggies, potatoes, beans, rice, etc. (i eat only extremely healthy foods and plenty of water) so i consider the alcohol my "non-healthy calories" for the day.

i know this is somewhat 'twisted', but is it truly that unhealthy? (especially compared to the fast-food indulgent americans these days.)

oh and i smoke 3-5 cigarettes per day. i am not so much concerned with my lungs or liver, but with my absorbtion of nutrients, etc. thank you for your help!

yes i eat tofu almost daily. i AM a controlled person. somewhat of a perfectionist, actually. the few cigs i smoke daily are not a significant amount and i feel everyone focusing on that. my point IS that everything i put into my body is extremely healthy, besides a few beers at the end of the evening. so can't i think of beer as my "cake" for the day, basically? understand where i'm coming from?

From what you've said I think you should consume at least 1000-1200 calories a day, especially if you are a vegetarian. You are also underweight, which is fine as long as you give your body everything it needs. I would suggest drinking a soy protein shake at some point in the day, everyday. Also maybe cut your alcohol intake down to three nights a week. I only drink bourbon and I can tell after a night of heavy drinking how much my liver despises me. I bet yours is saying the same thing. Listen to your body.

If you are primarily worried about the absorption of nutrients then both your vitamins and your Vegetarian lifestyle should cover the that. With that being said, and I am sure that you expect everyone to touch on this.....The large amounts of alcohol and cigarettes are going to have worse long time effects on your body.
First off, you have such a little frame and it can not carry all of that alcohol DAILY! Your liver is probably working overtime to keep you stable.The cigarrettes..we know that there are a million cancers and lung maladies that could POTENTIALLY haunt you in the future OR IN THE NOW!!!!
Pretty much all of the good that you do is CANCELLED out by your DAILY VICES!!! You seem like a controlled young woman----try to reduce your alcohol intake to 150 calories a day or every other day. Try to just smoke on the weekends. I am assuming that you are eating plenty of vegetables that do not have alot of caloric content (your 800-1000 calories of consumable food)--try to eat more beans for protein---maybe some TOFU.
Are you vegan??? Do you not do dairy??
I'm a little worried---please take care of yourself!!!

If you were that concerned about your absorbtion of nutrients you would cut the alcohol and cigs. The alcohol is "empty" calories. 400-500 calories a day means about 5 shots/beers. That's alot of booze! And if you could see anyone with end-stage liver disease, you'd cut it down to a weekend event. Every cigarette you smoke constricts your blood vessels all over your body, especially your peripherial areas. Girl, you are trying to justify your bad habits! Wrinkles and jaundice are not pretty on anyone. Get over yourself and if you're going to live "healthy", then do it and stop acting stupid. Save the booze and the 5 cigs for Friday night and eat something for God's sake and your own. You need to be bi*tch-slapped bigtime! Godloveya.

How can you smoke just 5 cigs a day? Why dont you stop all together?And If you eat rice, potatoes how come you arent even 100 lbs. I dont eat much and am at 3ft 9 and 135 lbs.I used to smoke and was under 100 lbs and felt better.Now I have a hard time getting around.I am going to do something about it,today. you would be MUCH healthier if you cared more about your body. eventually your liver, lungs, and kidneys will give out from alcohol and tobacco.
what you need to do is cut the alcohol and smokes, eat about 1700-2000Cal per day, and keep up the exercise. having about 50 grams of protein a day wouldn't be bad either.

P.S. 1 Calorie = 1000 calories

Having one drink a day has proven to be good for you. Drinking that much everyday is not good for you--it is damaging to your body. You know that it is. If you are really only concerned about your nutrient intake, you should know that the consumption of alcohol diminishes the absorption of nutrients greatly--so you aren't getting all the health benefits of the healthy diet you stick to. Sounds like you are an anorexic, alcoholic, smoker that is in denial, truth is it will catch up to you when you older.

Do this test, Do not drink alcohol all day try to go to sleep that night at 9PM without drinking, if you cannot go to sleep without drinking alcohol you are dependent on alcohol

Well, McCain's mother is still alive, that's gotta say something. And he still seems pretty sharp mentally. I'm not a fan of the guy, but I figure he's got at least four good years left, if not more.
