Is it more important to you to ensure that the gay and lesbian community knows that their lifestyle might be sinful or to actually make them feel comfortable enough to come to church and possibly find God?

To me, it seems more important that they have a relationship with God. We don't make our public opinion of adultery, pre-marital sex, or other living arrangements as public. Why do we put out the vibe that we are so disapproving of this other particular sexual deviation?

Please Note: I'm not arguing that homosexuality isn't a sin. I'm also not trying to excuse any type of sin. I'm merely trying to point out that a relationship with God is the goal. Sometimes achieving that goal leads to much greater blessings.

Also, If you're not a Christian, please remember, I'm not expecting or wanting a response. I don't need to hear that you're not a Christian. You'd be wasting your time and mine.

Bring 'em to church! Make them comfortable, let them feel loved.
It's not my job to wag my finger at them. It's my job to love.

It is equally important for any and every one to have a relationship with Christ AND to hold fellow Christians accountable for any type of sin.

This is something, like you point out, we don't do. There is a brand of "Christianity Light" and "Easybelievism" in this country. By this I mean that churches are being politically correct instead of biblically correct.
To grow in numbers churches have become a place that is comfortable for everyone. If sermons in a bible believing church don't convict us ALL at some point or another of any sin in our lives then the pastor is not preaching the true gospel of repentance.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Once a person is saved the next step is to be sanctified, set apart from our old pattern of sin. This applies to all sin for all believers.

So in answer to your question, any one should be welcome in church. If while there a person is convicted by the Holy Spirit, receives Christ, the next progression would be to repent and leave the lifestyle of ANY SIN in their life.

I encourage us all to study and read the bible to be sure what the Word of God says. The watering down of the Word is causing great confusion in this day and age.

Know His Word and live by it!

It is not a sin to be gay. The sin occurs in the sex act. A gay person is called to chastity. It is a cross that they must carry and
carry they must. Priest are called to chastity, Mary was chaste along with Joseph and Jesus. Having sex with the same sex cuts you off from the grace of God, your relationship with Him. (mortal sin) and it is a terrible place to be. It is important that we love them, to help them out of their difficulty, help them to change their thinking with a loving and sincere heart, not with a club. People choose this under the pretext of freedom which is not a freedom but licence. No one has the right to choose evil. I can go murder someone if i so choose I'm free to do that but am i morally free to do that ? no ! Freedom is the ability to do what we ought to do not whatever we want to do. What should we do ?
To know God, to love God, To obey God. I have been able to overcome a drug addiction, Porn addiction and many other lesser Faults thru His grace by understanding this fundamental Truth. For man it is difficult if not impossible but for God nothing is impossible thru His Grace as long as you accept the Grace

God bless PS thank you for the good question

I think what some people who call themselves Christian are doing is pointing fingers at others. It is what angers non-Christians. I believe we, as Christians, need to take the log out of our own eyes before trying to get the speck out of others' eyes. Sin is sin - we have all committed it - we all fall short of God's ideal. We should come to the world with God's love. Although I don't think we should propagate sin, often attacking others just causes them to move away. The Ten Commandments are there to show us that we are unable to meet God's standards and that we cannot reach or attain holiness by ourselves. It is through these teachings that we reach others.

I agree with you, we do spend a lot of time on that one particular sin yet seem to overlook the others. I think it would be great if we could make homosexuals feel comfortable enough to come to church, where they could learn about the love that Jesus has for them. I think it does need to be made clear though that homosexuality is a sin and that they do need to repent of it, the same as we should for all sinnners.

JESUS SAID IT YOU BELIEVE IT RIGHT?
I believe that we are all given a brain and some common sense. I believe that If I practice what JESUS supposedly said more than what other people said (disiples or other later interpreters of Jesus' message) I will be just fine. Even Christians should agree because Jesus said in Luke 12:56b-57
"How is it that you do not know how to interpret this present time? Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?"
Jesus said in John 8:7
"If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone..."
I will take full responsibility for my actions and you take responsibilty for your actions. I am not accountable to anyone but myself and God.
Homosexuality is not a new thing it has been apart of human life and nature since recorded history.
just my opinion

I agree with Miss Vicki, the only thing I would add is that we can not never bring up the subject that homosexuality is a sin, and therefore we need to ask for God's forgiveness and seek Him to change us (just like every other sin).

I agree it's important that everyone finds the truth about the living God; whether they are gay, straight, a thief, murderer etc.

They must all know that sin, any sin is an abomination to God. We can't change that fact. God loves the sinner but not the sin.

Who are we to judge? We are called to love one another.

Grace to you and God Bless!

Whether you're gay or not, it is a sin to have sex before you're married so who are we to judge others if we do the same ourselves? One of my friends is a born again Christian and he has confessed that he used to be bisexual and had many relationships with men before he became a true Christian. He no longer practices these relations. I welcomed him with open arms before AND AFTER i knew his past lifestyle.

It has never been our job as Christians, to do an outline of people's sin life. I certainly wouldn't want my sins gone through by the local christian community. We are called to walk in love, and do to the least of these....

All I know is that I have been forgiven, and my sins thrown in the sea of forgetfullness.

The Holy Spirit does a great job of letting me know where I need to grow and where I need to crucify the flesh. He does without comdemnation, something that we as humans cannot.

My brother

I am going to bow here to the teaching of the Apostle Paul. I won't pretend to be able to tech you his meaning that's why we have the Holy Spirit in our lives.. Ok that said here is what Paul said...

1 Corinthians 5:1-13
It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Jim
