Sorry, this is not the answer. The true definition of 'Wombat' is a traditional aboriginal greeting. When one Aborigine meets another he may greet him by asking " W' Omb At " Or "Where's your Wom at dude?"
This greeting is similar to todays "Hows it hanging" or "What's Up"
