Since Prayers never get answered, and there is no emprical data to suggest the existence of anything even reomotely godlike, doesn't it stand to reason that beleiving in god is just willfull self delusion?

Hope and faith...That's what most of these people who join these religions have to go on. It's extremely difficult sometimes being a human on this earth. One of those difficulties, is not having a will or purpose as to why we are here, where are we going, and what should we do with our lives. Seeing that most men/women have this and many other question marks in their lives, it tends to slow down society in some way (crime, lack of need to work, people giving up their lives to being homeless and/or become beggars or worse, committing suicide, etc), leaders from the past created many forms of religion to give these people a symbol of hope - god(s)/God, Jesus, The Bible, and so on and so forth. Whether if it's considered fake or not, these religions do provide some sort of purpose and meaning to these poor individuals desperately seeking someone, anyone to help guide their life, and most importantly, keep these people alive, working at their jobs, and contributing to their society.

No, you are wrong on all counts. I have had my prayers answered, some not in the way I wanted but they where answered none the less, and the ones that where not answered actually where(albiet with a no but they where still answered). Secondly, how do you know there is no evidence of God, you don't know everthing, you only know a small part of life. Finally, Christianity is absolute Truth, Trust in Christ and he will forgive you of all your sins.

How do you know prayers never get answered? If that is what you base your opinion on then you are missing the whole point about religion as a whole.

Just because YOUR prayers might not get answered doesnt mean everyone's doesnt. Such a bold statement to be able to generalize everyone and say what does/does not happen. Take the chip off, buddy.

You believe what you'd like to believe.

I know the truth and will believe what I want to believe. I know prayers are answered (at least mine are). I don't know what you've been praying for or about but you don't believe anyway, so that is a moot point.

I'd like to see your proof there is no Living God.

...I'm waiting...

A person who prays constantly will eventually have one of these prayers come true which that person will then use to justify the praying.
