Anyone who lives over there can you shed light on what is being done to fight and stop the gang violence (which is made up of mostly illegals)? Mark this down as yet another reason the border needs to have a wall and why we as a nation are sick of illegals. More violence, gangs, terrorists, ect.

It just sounds really bad over there from what ive heard and read. I dont envy good americans who live near there and hope things will be done to stop what can be basically called the taking over of US soil

I am actually American. I am in the US Navy and live in Connecticut but raised in Florida. The past couple years I have just been reading and listening to a lot of different news info and other related stories that you dont hear on most regular news stations. Some things, such as gangs and the border, are more serious than they portray. It is like they just want to ignore it or not face it

The Los Angeles Police Department has almost all of its police in gang territory...trying to combat the problem while being a kinder gentler police department than they have been known for in the past. It ain't gonna happen that way.
Meanwhile, there is crime citywide that is going unsolved because all of their manpower is used up trying to control ANIMALS...who should just be shot not reasoned with.

I live in Arizona and the police and the Border Patrol are constantly on the look out for all gang activity.It seem right now Texas is getting hit really hard around El Paso.The drug cartels and gangs are winning in that area.
The hard core criminals are the real worry.They feed upon all the people.Legal and illegal alike.They don't care who they hurt with their violence and crimes.We have the National Guard in that area too but they need to put the regular Army there to protect all the people.

Unfortunately, this is an issue that can only be solved by creating a relationship with Mexico/Central America that is similar to the one the US has with Canada. Which would be a hellish undertaking because it would mean that Central America would have to become Cartel-free, and alot of the money that comes from the cartels supports some of the richest people in the world, so it would be very difficult to make that happen. Putting a wall up may seem like a good idea, but really all it would do is harm the truly poor who risk everything to come to America, the gangs that you're talking about are already here, they own track homes , their kids go to US schools, they even pay taxes. A wall can't hurt the people who have the power (money) that fund the gangs. What could hurt thenm is if the US govt would actually actively pursue the Cartels. Relentlessly.

Honestly a whole lot of nothing. There are other copycat gangs over here like Hollywood, WBP (******* pride), La Mexica. But all they really do though is graffiti, sometimes you'll hear about someone getting shot. In terms of more violent gangs like MS13, they are heavily racist. In my neighborhood they look up to my family since we've known some of them since they were kids and they know not to mess with us. They're really unintelligent, the only "smart" ones are the leaders back in Mex (not sure what city anymore) but for the most part all gang bangers are stupid influential kids.
I heard they're making a gang task force out here but nothing has really happened about it yet.

I live in Southern California. The police are doing what they can, but they are spread thin. Every time the Border Patrol tries to conduct raids for illegals, there is an outcry from the Hispanic community...they consider the raids "racist". Our schools are in shambles...there was another race riot a couple of weeks back (Black vs. Mexican...again). It's a real mess down here.

I live in the west - almost like the old days - shooting in the streets! What are our governments from federal to local doing about it? Absolutely nothing..local & state are waiting on the federal govt. to act - the federal govt. insists they just come to do jobs Americans don't want...which is a joke! I truly think the only way to eliminate gangs is to shoot on site - forget the questions later. We need to enforce our laws & quit being so nice to these criminals - no exceptions!

Some cities are starting to push ahead with local ordinances on the issue...there's a lot of opposition to it though...but if more states put their police on the job, and they get the fence built,
and Congress stops playing with its' food, it'll all come out in the wash...I think there's a hotline, now, too, if there isn't, there should be one...

It needs more than a wall. They have been digging tunnels for years. Seismic listening stations, land mines, razor wire, would all be a good start. Allowing the National Guard to shot them would help.

The police in the western part of the US are not just sitting down like the Police in the Eastern part of the US. The Federal govt has step in out west and is helping the local police.

You are so right that make me think that you are very educated and interesting in world problems, that you have intelligent enough to see what is wrong and called it like it is. You have to be from some where out side of the American Continent, I'm I right? You are good and make me very proud of you.
