The big issue is where are you living because that can impact price.
The two expensive public schools are UIC and UIUC
The cheaper ones are WIU and EIU
In between, there is ISU, NIU, SIU
Other public school but are considered the worst are CSU, NEIU, and GSU. Those are all in Chicago.

Northern Illinois University (NIU), is a fairly good school with a pleasant price tag, as far as four year schools. You would also qualify for "state school" financial aid as long as you're an Illinois resident!

Augustana, I hear is a good school too and not all that expencive.

Columbia College Chicago is another option.

My son's looking to attend Columbia College because he likes the open campus of the city and their proven school of Music production.

But these all depend on what you plan on studying, what kind of atmosphere you're looking for and where you live.

There are actually HUNDREDS of schools in Illinois, because we're centrally located, we have quite an array of higher education resources.

Talk to your school guidence councelor as well, really. That's what they're there for.

I went to Western Ill. for my first two years and found it to be a great experience. It's cheap compared to some other U's in Ill... It's close to everything and there is a ton to do and learn. The website for Western is alright, so check that out and take a tour. Good luck. If all fails, go tho the University of Iowa -- It's currently awesome.

U of I.

If money is a real issue, any college worth its salt will make it possible for you to attend, especially if it's a state college and you're a state resident. Contact the financial aid offices of every college you're looking at, see what sorts of scholarships and loan programs you might qualify for.
