FYI: I'm actually a long-time home-school mom. We started in the "early years" before home-school was becoming popular. My question is posted as a service to others that are just beginning to learn about their options.

Please posts links to worthwhile and helpful home-school websites that you use or know to be of high quality.

Another great site with information and statistics about home-education is the National Home Education Research Institute found at http://www.NHERI.org

Dr. Brian Ray is well-known in the home-school community and travels the world speaking in gov't sessions, court cases, etc. His research is amazing and very helpful.

http://www.startwrite.com has a great handwriting program that you can download. It costs around $40 give or take. I really like it.

Informative information on all aspects of home schooling as well as various styles:

Secular: http://nhen.org (all-inclusive homeschool information site, no statement of faith to join)

Christian: http://hslda.org (great for information though visibly Christian and requires one to sign a statement of faith to join)

My favorite that has everything under the sun is A to Z's Home's Cool Homeschool: http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/

1) Find out what the laws are in your state concerning homeschooling by writing your state department of education.
2)Find out what your states standards are for your child's age.
3)Choose a program to teach like abeka(my favorite)
4)Start homeschooling Good luck and God bless!

check out www.homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/weblinks/help.htm for more info.
