I've got a multi level answer which I used to give for 40p when I did 'you ask - I answer' in Camden...
1: (foolish) A film by Monty Python
2: (paranoid) We are all God's toys (also the name of a good 80s band)
3: (for atheists) You have to justify the fact that out of all those millions of sperm, you were the one to defy all the odds to reach that egg.
4: (most people's favourite): In order to climb up through the many reincarnations of your human form, you must experience all things in order to climb higher in your physical self in order to finally achieve the many various levels of Nirvana.
PS, for the first respondent. At the risk of being pedantic, 42 was not the meaning of life, it was the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.

Life is what you make. If you want to be happy, you will make it happen. If you want to be successful then that can be done too. It is all mind over matter. Meaning of life is within you. Search your heart for what really you want in life. You will get your answer there.

"Treat others the same way you want them to treat you." Luke 6:31
God has a plan for your life:
Psalm 139:16 "Your eyes have seen my unformed substance
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me
When as yet ther was not one of them."

"You are not on Earth by accident. There is a purpose for your mortal existence. You are here to receive a physical body, gain experience, and develop divine attributes—like justice, mercy, and love.
God did not send you here without a plan. His plan is designed to bring you, and all His children, greater peace in this life—no matter what its trials—and eternal joy in the life to come. It is a plan of eternal salvation and happiness.
To partake of His plan, Heavenly Father invites you to:
Come to know and love Him and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Learn to love others as He loves them.
Learn to choose right over wrong. "

The purpose of life is to learn all we can. God sent His Son to show us how to live. If we master ourselves in this life, God will teach us more in the next life. He will continue to teach if we will continue to learn until He has taught us everything. (Eternity is a long time). When we know what He knows, we can do what He does.

The best way to answer that question is for you to ask the Creator of all things. Ask God!
