If you think you have something to hide from your past, and you don't mention it in a relationship eventually, then you are asking for trouble. Plan on figuring a way to tell this significant other eventually of your past. Don't do it too soon, but then again, don't wait for a long period of time either. Because the longer you wait, the harder it is to let go of someone should their decision be not to stay in a relationship with you. It doesn't mean they will go out and blab it to every person they meet. And, if they do, so what. Those people who are told, at that point should see that the person who told them, is not a very reliable person to be in a friendship with. Good luck to you on this.

Being truthful is best but if you cannot trust the person who is asking you to be truthful then use the silence is golden rule. There are lies and cover ups if you would like not to answer... i do that a lot... Also warn such people that you do not want to answer and tell them in advance that they should ask no questions if they want no lies... generally shuts people up coz u r being honest about the fact that u ll tell them a fib if they ask again hehe.
