ok finally I got the picture thanks for all of you
what security officer do is just observe and report
and that is bull to me...
I give you a real example" that happen to me last night"
I was in patrol in the parking area I hear a loud talking
when I was close enough I see a guy with a girl
I just watch them for a few minutes then the guy
cross the line first by smash a car windshield after
that he grab the girl, maybe the laws say
I have just observe and report well screw the laws
I grab this guy and I stop him because he was doing something very very wrong...
what happend if this guy kill the girl and the police know I was watching and do nothing? is not against any laws?

First let me say a big Thank You For going above and beyond your duty call when helping someone that needed help. Even in your line of work you have to sometime take matters into your own hands. There is a FED LAW that will protect you when having to do so, it's called the GOOD SAMARITAN LAW which means that if you were to come up on and auto accident and you rendered help that save a person life you can not be taken to court and sued for helping. So thanks again and keep up the good work.

Okay, i missed the first question (and too lazy and/or busy to go back and read it)...but did you get in trouble for htis? Is this guy suing you for your actions - in this day and age wouldn't surprise me which is why I think many people hesitate to get involved or just don't do anythying, turn their heads or whatever. It's kind of like you're damned if you do, damned if you don't...but if you don't (meaning don't do nothing) what would the consequences have been? You have to live with your conscience had you not done anything.

You can bet if the guy had harmed the girl in any way- and you only "observed" you'd be publicly ROASTED for not helping her.
If you witness someone drowning, and you are able to swim- YOU are liable if you do nothing to help. Also, if you kill someone while performing CPR- liable.....
So go figure... in my opinion, you did the right thing.

you have the same obligation any other citizen has, to prevent it if you can without getting yourself killed, after you've notified 911. As a security officer I think you'd incur some liabliity if you just ignored it.

It is not against the law to not step into a situation, especially if it is not in your job. Similarly you can allow someone to die if you decide not to use any first aid.
Whether or not it is morally correct to do so is an entirely different question.

If you stopped him you did the right thing. If you had ignored him you'd be a loser. I don't think there are any laws against being a loser.
