i have been on a few anti-depressants...the worst one was effexor.
effexor had the worst side-effects: i was sick all the time, i couldn't eat, couldn't get out of bed, ...it made my depression a LOT worse. it even made me think about suicide. i had NEVER thought of suicide before then...
it was prescribed by my GP, i think that was a mistake because shrinks are the ones that should give out anti-depressants, they know what they're doing.
anti-depressants don't really work for me.

My experience with antidepressants has been a life saver.
Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, and Effexor are a few that come to mind that were identified as having a suicide risk, I do not know of any pending lawsuits...
However, it should be noted that while there is a connection between antidepressants and suicide attempts they are not caused by the medication. See, when you have a depressed person who is also maybe suicidal, they start taking medicine that within the first few weeks begins to control some of the symptoms of depression, like physical fatigue and lack of initiative. So now you have someone who is still depressed and suicidal cos the medicine hasn't had enough time to help but they feel like they have enough energy to go out and buy that gun this time or climb the stairs to the roof of the building. That's the only connection between antidepressants and increased suicidality, the whole thing is blown way out of proportion. When someone is prescribed antidepressant medication, they should also have a psychologist that they check in with once a week for support.

Anti-depressants don't CAUSE suicides. They can cause suicidal thoughts in the brains of children and teenagers.
At any rate, I'm sure there's a lawsuit pending against almost every anti-depressant out there.
My girlfriend takes Zoloft, and it depresses her libido, and causes some intestinal discomfort every so often, but it's generally effective.
