Absolutely not it is always up to you if you want them have them if you don't then you don't. A small wedding is always easier to plan, pay for, and can be nice.

When I got married 8 years ago we just had to have two witnesses sign the marriage certificate, but that can be anybody. You don't have to have any bridesmaids or groomsmen if you don't want to. I, personally, think it's ridiculous for some of these people to have so many attendants in their weddings. I've seen pictures of some that have as many as 10-15 bridesmaids and groomsmen each. I think too many people get caught up in "The Wedding" when they should be thinking about "The Marriage." As long as it is special for you, do whatever you want. Good luck and congratulations!

I dont think it's neccessary to have any, but it's always nice to have a maid of honor/ best man because they have specific jobs in the ceremony- such as the best man carrying the rings and the maid of honor holding the bride's flowers or fixing her dress.
I was just in a wedding where they had 3 groomsmen and 3 bridesmaids. I've been in weddings where they had 9 of each!! Either way, it's been a blast.

I have been married 2 times. The first time I had the big wedding with all the frills. I was divorced in 2 years. My 2nd marriage I got married outside (in a wedding dress) and it was just my hubby and our family. We didn't have bridesmaids because I hated to ask people to go to that expenses of getting dresses that they would never wear again anyway. I think my 2nd wedding was actually better than the first because it was more relaxed. I didn't have to worry about all the things I had planned going wrong.

You need to have two witnesses, so usually that is the Maid of Honour and Best Man. Beyond that, if you want bridesmaids and groomsmen, that's up to you.

Legally, you need to check the requirements set by your state for the number of witnesses you must have. In Ohio, it is required that there are 2 witnesses, the person that marries you can count as one and there must be at least one other person who will sign your marriage certificate as a witness.
If you don't want have attendants, that is completely up to you -- it is your wedding but just be sure that you know what the state requires to have the marriage recognized.
Congratulations!

No, it's not necessary. Just so long as you have a witness to sign the certificate. The more people you have in your party, the more problems there are that may arise from not being picked to be in the wedding party.

It is really up to the bride and groom to who they have in the wedding. You could have none, or a few, or you could have just a best man and a maid of honor. This is what my sister-in-law is doing. She is going to have a maid-of-honor and a best man and that is all she is going to have because it is going to be really small.
If you dont' have any then it will save you money because you don't have to buy gifts and that is less food you have to purchase for the rehearsal dinner!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Only people you would need at a wedding are the Minister, Priest or Pastor or a Notary and two other witnesses. Anyone else in the wedding party is for your and their enjoyment of the special occassion.

Well you need atleast a maid of honor and a best man. They sign your marriage license with you as your 2 witnesses. Ask your minister/pastor/priest they can tell you if someone else can sign with you and eliminate the wedding party all together.

No it isn't necessary. I didn't have any at my wedding just a best man and maid of honor. I figured it would be easier on us and our friends. having a bridal party is a lot of work.
